we had our meeting with our pastor last night...and for a good hour we discussed how communication is key and how the way you face your conflicts is a key point.
# Styles.... Bombastic, In Your Face style....loud crying, screaming,....good because it gets the issue over and done with quick
Sit and Talk it over.....good because it keeps things calm but sometimes leaves 1 person feeling like there was no resolution to the issue and may or may not take an extended period of time
Swee it under the carpet style....not ignoring, but passively let it sit until it comes up....good because it gives time to cool down, but again...my or may not take an indefinite amount of time...but both parties stay pretty calm

Re: What is your fighting/confrontation style?
I have different styles for different people. For my FH we don't really fight that much because we talk everything out. With my mom it always ends up in a screaming match (she starts it!) and screaming match with my sister also. With co-workers it is usually sweep it under the carpet and talk about it later.

I do a little of both 2 and 3.
DH and I talk things out to get to the bottom of things, but we are both guilty of holding things in and allowing them to fester. We have gotten so much better, but we can still improve in this area.

I am mostly a talker-outer, but if it's a fight with someone I don't care about, I'll just save my energy and ignore it. I don't think I've ever raised my voice to anyone.

Re: What is your fighting/confrontation style?
I will admit that I can fall into the 'bombastic' category (inyour face ....loud crying, screaming..) Takes an extreme case to get me there, but I feel its healthy now & again
When I act 'bombastic' FH's style is typically 'sweep it under the carpet,' which he knows FRUSTATES ME to NO END!
Thankfully, most times we just sit and talk it out. And luckily, we really don't disagree too often.
With co-workers and friends, we usually just talk it out, too
With my mom, its always a screaming match (I'm in the middle of a major fight with her as we speak!!)

We can get very snippy.. We can get testy. But no personal attacks are allowed. No yelling. I think we both don't see a reason or a purpose to yelling.. it makes things worse.

i get mad often .. it's either the silent treatment (usually) or yelling. DH rarely ever gets mad but he's so quiet when he does that i just feel guilty as hell.
