What is your opinion on this idea?

As some of you know, my reception is at the Belmont Racetrack ( well all of you know from my profile ). We sent out STDs with the background of horses at Belmont and the other with a horse against the city skyline- here I'll post them...

Anyway, I am trying to decide on favors and come up with something original. Here is what
I came up with:
Horseshoes.
Real ones. If you hang them on your wall with the open side up- it means good luck. I was thinking of pruchasing them myself and then on the back somehow write our names and wedding date.

Do you like this idea? or do you think its dumb? taking it too far with the horse theme?

Second question- I am making my own invites with one of my BMs. She is coming over in a bit so we can get a picture of it in our mind. Do you think if I designed it in the shape of a horseshoe it would be a good idea? i guess the same questions as above apply here too?

Or can anyone throw out some other 'horse or racetrack' inspired themes????

Those are great STD's!! I will think of more ideas if i can but I am not creative at ALL.

I think it's a cute idea for a favor - you could probably have them engraved. Another possible idea for the invites or programs or something along those lines might be something like a tip sheet or betting sheet. I don't know what they're called exactly. Also I seem to recall a bouquet in Martha Stewart Weddings with a horseshoe charm tied to the ribbon used to tie the bouquet. It was very cute, but I can't find a pic on her website!

I think the horseshoe idea is cute for favors but not sure about real ones!

I don't know if invites too are too much. Try to think of something else associated with racing maybe ...

i read in martha stewart weddings that horeshoes represent good luck for weddings...so i think it's a great idea!!!
you're getting married at a unique place...have fun with it and use it to your advantage..be creative with everything!!!
i say go for it all!!!

We threw around some ideas tonight. I think I am going to do a pretty simple invite but have it tie in the middle with a little horseshoe charm. I think thats it - but no final decisions. Still gonna search and look around.

If anyone sees anything- keep me in mind. Also, if you see anything poem or saying or statement about horeshoes in general let me know.

I think for favors I'll look into engravement and tie some kind of saying with a bow onto it.

I'm getting excited!!!!!!!!

Not crazy about real horse shoes as favors, but what about a horseshoe cookie?

Something like this maybe? They're a little expensive, $7.50 a box for 24 or more boxes, but you could do one per couple.

Or these chocolates are $3.55 for ten or more four packs. You could break down the four packs and give one or two to each guest.

or these are $48.75 for 75. You could put them in tulle or organza bags.

wow those are cool ideas. I think that real horshoes would be too heavy though, I like the chocolates. I was gonna do lollipops for my favors, I like the idea of having something edible, not just another item that will collect dust on someones shelf. IMO you are not going to far w/ the theme. I am also having a theme wedding so I'm biased!

Personally, I LOVE the real horseshoe favor. I think it is perfect!
I love your STD's too
I think going a little simple on the invites is a good idea, i like the charm idea.
