I am liking the high ones that look so 'wow' when you walk in the room but a few people have said they think they get in the way.
I thought they were high enough to be out of the way but maybe they are right, plus low is less money,
Any opinions, have you been to a wedding with either or and liked one better than the other, what are you having?

Re: What is your vote for low centerpieces
I like the look of high centerpieces, but I think I like the look of low centerpieces better.
The high can get in the way (especiall for people who are seated towards the back).
I'm trying to go for a simple, yet elegant look.

Re: What is your vote for low centerpieces
I love the look of some high centerpieces but hate sitting at a table with them. I also think some are very gaudy. You cannot talk to anyone across the table though. They are also a lot more money.
I am going with low centerpieces full of flowers and candles. But everyone likes something different, so if you LOVE high centerpieces cut back on favors or someplace else.

Just my opinion, but I prefer low centerpieces. I find the high ones do get in the way when trying to talk to others at the table, plus once I was at a wedding where the high centerpiece kept wobbling- we all thought it was going to tip over.

Even though I like high centerpieces and they do look dramatic, I think they tend to get in the way and obstruct people's views. I think I'm going with low centerpieces and candles to give that classic and elegant feel and look.

Re: What is your vote for low centerpieces
My cousin had low centerpieces- a fishbowl with 2 dozen roses on every table and it was absolutely gorgeous. I recently saw her pictures and even noticed how elegant and classy they looked.
I am also not a fan of high centerpieces for some of the above stated reasons...
I think low is more elegant...I am using a bubble vase/kind of like a fish bowl...but you won't be able to see it...filled with summer flowers

Re: What is your vote for low centerpieces
I'm a fan of low as well. I think only really large venues are suited for the tall style. This is an awful pic of my sample-it looks really green & its not. I think textures & combos of fruits & flowers & berries can be very pleasing to the eye.
I went back and forth on this one forever. I personally don't like the look of the high candelabras. The candles are normally those kind that dont' burn down and they always tilt into the arrangement. Plus, I don't like that the beauty of the flowers isn't on the table before the guests. However, I do like the dramatic look of it all when you walk in a room. I compromised with three different arrangements. One low wreath w. bowl of candles and flowers in center. Once slightly higher than that with a brass three stemmed (small) candle holder coming out of it - holds three pillar candles up fairly high, and ivy will cover the brass stem part - and then for the drama...going with very tall glass fluted vases filled wtih curly willow branches and assorted flowers that match the other arrangements. I know there may be a visibility issue with that one, but I going to try to put those at the tables where people might be up dancing most of the time.
Sorry so long - but I know the drama of this decision. BTW - all said and done - I cut my cost significantly by changing away from the pedestal candelabras.

I went with high. I LOVE THEM!!!! There is alot of factors to weigh. They are very grand and majestic. Mine won't intrude on people talking.

I had very low centerpieces. I had 3 dozen black magic roses with votives on the table. They were outstanding and I am still getting compliments on them 6 months later.

I also am going with low centerpieces. I checked into high centerpieces. They are very expensive and I cant see spending that much money on flowers for one day. JMO

Re: What is your vote for low centerpieces
Our centerpieces are high with tea light candles spiraling down the base. I love them. I know some people think they get in the way but we are having over 250 people and i think it makes such an impact when you walk in. PLus i love the spiraling candles which look like they are floating in the air! I know a lot of people who do prefer the low ones though and i believe that is the current trend. Go with what you think makes the room and fits the overall feeling you want to convey that day.

Angie3, Wow, we have the same centerpiece. My rose color is Sahara. Like Beige/Ivory. My florist is also spiraling the brass part with soft ivy. At the base we will have rose petals. They are so nice. We already saw our sample centerpiece. I took pictures of it so when I develop them I will try to scan and attach.

Re: What is your vote for low centerpieces
We are going with low centerpices for a bunch of reasons. We're not big fans of the high ones for reasons stated here. Most of the time we take them off the table and put them on the floor out of the way so everyone can see each other. Our room also doesn't call for very high centerpieces, so we are going with the ones that are provided by The Meadow Club, which are small and low.

I prefer the low. Even if the flowers are high enough where the don't block your view you still need to look around the vase or stem to talk to people at your table. JMO.

Curly2003...
You have very good taste! I'm late October and my bouquet is all black magic, my girls are black magic, chocolate and an orangy (i think it is called Sunny) roses with berries. My centerpieces have 3 dozen of those color roses with other stuff like ivy, painted baby orchids and some stuff i have written down but can't remember. We saw our sample and loved it but we changed the colors a little and took out something and added something else so I will probably have another sample made up about 2 weeks before. Happy planning and good luck!

Re: Curly2003...
so you guys think if its a big affair high is more appropriate? I am having 200-210 approx which is pretty big. Unfortunatley my FH family all does high (well they all spend too much money on weddings) and even his mother made a negative comment when i mentioned possbily going with the low ones. I know its none of her business but you know how it is.
