I am just curious what everyone else is doing out there because we cannot make up our minds!

We did marble cake with strawberry and canoli filling, and whipped cream.
I think buttercream has become popular b/c fondant tastes like azz. Only thing is I dont think it can be kept out during your reception b/c it will melt-not sure but I think that is the case

We did yellow cake, with cannoli cream and rasberry mousse and buttercream. Pics are in my album.
We didn't like the taste of fondant, so we went with buttercream. We were able to leave our cake out during the whole reception. If the cake is inside, with air conditioning, you shouldn't have a problem. I don't think you could have it outside in warm weather, though.

My sister said fondat tastes like cr@p. So, with that in mind, we're goin with the Buttercream.

lol pegs - u are too funny. but yea, while fondant looks pretty - u REALLY have to search for a bakery that makes it fresh - because otherwise it is GRRROOOOSS. Buttercreme is so good & when done right, can still have the elegant look of fondant. And yes, it can be kept out during the ceremony. Whipped creme is the one that has to be refrigderated...otherwise it will sweat & the cake can collapse! (but ur RH/bakery will tell u all this)....i went with buttercreme. It was GORGOUS and omg so freakin' good! we had it out in our reception room all night
Fondant has a tendancy to taste bad but my girl was soo good that it was deliclious!
We had for the bottom light genoise vanilla (sponge cake) choc butter cream
2 top tiers - dark choc flavored w/white chocolate godiva liquor - vanilla butter cream

fondant, mad hatter style cake
flavors are: yellow pound cake with baileys cream and also sourdough cake with raspberries and chocolate truffles

I voted neither, but Im having fondant on the outside and buttercream on the inside and under the fondant. We are having yellow pound cake and key lime buttercream! YUM!
