We cannot make up our minds but we really dont like fondant. Looks pretty though

I'm doing a fondant covered show cake with choc buttercream filling (yellow funfetti cake) and then a sheet cake all yellow funfetti, and buttercream covered with half canoli filling and half fresh strawberries and whipped cream.

buttercream since our hall includes the cake and doesnt do fondant. we are doing full viennesse so we dont think we need to bring in an outside cake.
if our hall included fondant i dont know what we would pick, i heard it usually doesn't taste as good. i like the look of smooth buttercream just as much.
still undecided on flavors, stacked v. tiered, round v. square etc.

If I make my own I'll be doing it in fondant since it will harden and not go bad!
If I order it through the RH I'll do buttercream- mostly because I am SUPER picky about how fondant is done and I dont trust just anyone to do it! At least I will know that a bakery can ice a cake well with regular icing!
(Fondant should be SUPER thin- like paper-- but most places do it thick to hide the imperfections in the cake)

i forgot to mention that i am getting my cake from an outside place and not through the RH. I wanted a certain cake and wanted to make sure it comes out just as i want. Most RH's dont do this design so didnt want to take a chance

Love the way fondunt looks but hate the way it tastes. I am getting buttercream. 4 Tier cake, first tier Canoli Cream 2nd Chocolate Fudge, 3rd canoli and chocolate fudge. And the top is with Canoli. YAY! Just finished ordering it today.
We are getting the cake from Dortoni Bakery. We weren't sure if we should go through our hall but I love the way there cakes look plus our Florist is going to decorate it with fresh flowers as well.

depends, i went to one bakery that makes their own and it was awesome. Other than that not that sure bc everytime i go to weddings i never eat the icing on cake, not fondant, buttercream or whipped cream. Not a fan of icing lol, i just eat the filling.

We were going to get fondant but just decided to get the buttercream instead...we are having chocolate cake with chocolate mousse and raspberry filling
