What kind of cell phone do you have?

Dont know whether to stay with AT&T or go somewhere else. Do you have GSM?

i have verizon since 97 and i love it. i just bought a new phone. it slides up and down. it is by kyocera. its great and it even has speakerphone!

I almost bought that phone! But I figured I would probably break it

Thanks everyone. I got a special deal for a plan with AT&T, so I stayed with them. It was sort of like my old deal which they did away with if you went to GSM. I wanted GSM since they are doing away with digital. I got an LG phone for free (internet) price by ordering over the phone and for all the hassel they put me through (long story). I couldnt buy a phone in a store with the special plan they were offering, so I went to look at the phones last night and then came home to place my order. I only signed a year plan and unless I am so thrilled over the year, plan to try and switch to Verizon due to wonderful things I have heard.

I just switched to Verizon from Sprint this month.... so far so good. I have the LG -VX6000 camera phone and love it. I take pictures wherever I go. FH thinks I'm nuts.

He just switched to Verizon from Nextel he had whatever the latest Motorola phone was. i730, I think... the phone was ok, but Nextel service s*cked over here by me.

We have at&t, it works for us. We use it mostly in nassau (where FH works) and in the city )where I work. Never have a problem with reception or service. We're not heavy users.

ETA: what is GSM?

Clueless - Hi, hope all is well.
GSM is a new satellite system they are using for cell phones. They are going to start doing away with digital service. With GSM you have access to the internet with the phone, etc. I wouldnt of known about it either, but I was in the market for new phone and that is when I found out.

I could be wrong, but the way I understand it any newer phone (last 3 years or so) that offers triband service is GSM capable.

ETA: Nope, sorry I am wrong about... asked FH (he works for Verizon) about it. The tri-band phones have two digital bands and one analog. Nevermind.

What is triband service? Not sure. I do know that in orer to use GSM, that you have to buy a phone compatable to it. They still sell new phones that are not, so not all new phones are compatable.
