what kind of flats with a ball gown?

hi y'all! so i said yes to the dress a few weeks ago and i friggin luh-hurvee it. it's a ball gown style and really highlights my waist. anyways, my fiance is not very tall and i am kind of on the tall side (5'9') and i don't want to wear heels and tower over him at the wedding. so i figured i'd do flats or a tiny kitten heel.

i found these shoes that i like very much, but my mom thinks they are too 'casual' even though they are satin with rhinestones:

http://www.shoes.com/Shopping/productdetails.aspx?catalog_name=web&pg=5135659&p=EC1233025&CMP=OTC-GoogleBase&partnerid=GoogleBase&cpc=GoogleBase&campaign=Martinez+Valero&category=W&cpckw=Martinez+Valero+Women's+Ivy+Sandals+(Ivory+Satin)&CAWELAID=558361608

she thinks i should do a satin ballet flat, but i'm kinda not into that... i dunno. whatchoo ladies think of that shoe? can i do a flat open sandal, or is that too casual? also, anyone know where i can find really cute/pretty kitten heel bridal shoes?

as always, your input is much appreciated and valued!

sorry ITA with your mom. dont settle go out and look at shoes you may find things in stores that you wouldnt see on line. I would go with a Kitten heel. When you are walking in any kind of heel you tend to keep your posture better.
Take a look at this website. http://www.benjaminwalkcorp.com/?pg=bridal&sub=sandal

Also try sandys shoes in massapeqa they have a good selection. and i think the store in lynbrook is called bridal elegance. both are on sunrise hwy.

I'm also a tall bride, 5-11 so I'm definitely wearing flats! Since i'm obsessed with Louis Vuitton, I'm going to get LV flats for the big day. Def do not settle on just any pair of flats.

Yes ITA with your mom..Please continue the search. I will sneak around and try to google for you. Are you looking just for sandals or can it be a closed shoe?

omg why is my mom always right?!?! hahahhaa... thanks for the help! i guess i would do closed, too. the heel has to be very low, though. i'm like some of the shoes by grace footwear, but most of the heels are too high. i want like 2 inches or less. maaaybbeee 2.5... oh but my poor greg is gonna look like a midget! haha

I am tall also, but I went against the trend. I am wearing 4 inch heels. I fell in love with them, FH is 6'4' and I am 6', so on wedding day we will be about the same height. Oh well.
But, don't just get any shoes. I agree with suggestion of Sandy's shoes. That is where I got mine and they have a ton to choose from.

i dont mind appearing taller than i am but not at the expense of greg plluss, really, i have back problems and high heels exacerbate that. why go through the pain? no one is really going to see my shoes anyways!

i am tall as well... im 5'10' & DH is 6'1'

i got a shoe with a 2 inch heel

they were Colorifics.. you can leave them white or dye them any color

ETA: i only wore my shoes for church, pics and first dance.. after that i changed into isotoner ballet slippers.. noone saw my feet in my dress & i was comfy lol

I am 5'11 and so is FH.. so I totally understand...

I was going to do a flat or a slipper, but I ended up with a little heal - mostly cause I fell in love with the shoe!
(I got them on zappos...)

You've got time - look around and you may find something perfect with just a bit of a heal or even a flat. Just don't settle!

I totally understand your predicament! i personally think that no one will see your shoes unless you show them, so the most important thing is that they're comfortable and you love them...

A lot of girls take this as the opportunity to find fabulous shoes, which I would love to do, but I'm already taller than FH and with a size 11 foot, I'm not even bothering!

I know flats typically have no support but I went and ordered a pair of shoes that I already own and love in hot pink! I got them and love them... although my mom already said the same thing, and I agree, they are too casual, but I don' t care b/c no one is going to be up close to my feet!

I tried to attach, we'll see if it works :)

I agree with your mom that shoe is way too casual and i agree you should do a ballet satin flat.

I would go with a small heel since they do make you walk and stand much better. Don't they make heels for mens shoes? Lifts or something? LOL.
If you want to wear flats, I would do a satin ballerina style with jewels on the front.
Something like these:

ETA: you could also get shoe clips to dress up a plain pair.

Re: what kind of flats with a ball gown?

I am 5'8 and my fiance is 5'10...generally I am not sensitive about wearing heels but I was on a MISSION for the wedding to find great shoes that were not more than 2inces. I found a pair from the line 'My Wedding Shoe' although I am not in love love love with them....but they're the prettiest I could find.

FYI - you can have heels cut .5 inch without screwing up the pitch. I did it and its perfectly comfy!

Google'd and can't find my shoe or the brand....kinda odd. I will snap a pic in the next few days as they are already at my parents house waiting to be worn for the wedding!

i'm with you on not usually being sensitive about wearing heels... i just don't want to tower over greg in the photos. annnd thanks for the tip about cutting the heels half an inch! that opens up some new possibilities! yay!!

Idk i dont think the 1st pair is bad!! lol i really dont think anyone ever notices your feet b/c your dress will cover them so whats the big deal?? maybe for pics and your 1st dance you can wear a kitten heel like the amazon pair you posted but otherwise i say be comfy and dont tower over ur hubby!
