Definitely Peonies. They are kinda pricey and only in season between April and June.

Thats the beauty of Burtons- any flower one price! :) I'll just have to make sure they can get them the end of March!

Re: What kind of flowers are these?
I have a question about burtons? I already booked my florist but i was just curious about something.
Ok i know all their flowers are the same price, but for example if this happens, like if you want peonies or some type of flower that is not in season during your wedding, you can't get it? bc even though flowers are not in season other florists can get it but it will cost more...So do they just only do flowers that are in season
I kinda dont think they'll get flowers that are not in season but still sell at same low price, or i might be wrong lol.

They are penoies and they are totally limited. (looked it up on about.com) There is a six week window between May and June. Thats it. So they are EXTREMELEY expensive-my best friend wanted them but she is getting married in August so no deal. BUT if you want to use them in CP arrangments (she wanted to cluster one or two peonies in low blue vases) we discovred that carnations in perfect bloom clustered togetehr give the same effect and sooooooo much cheaper!

My cousin is getting married 3/31/07 and she has peonies in all her bouquets. She's in Charlotte so I don't know if location plays a factor!

Re: What kind of flowers are these?
yeah, the fluffy ones are peonies, and are only available in may and june. It's a short season, but they apparently do well in bo-ks...;.
the flowers with the black centers are anenomes are apparently are extremely fragile and $$$. I was advised by my florist to avoid them, becuase they won't make it through the day, even in centerpieces
We have very similar tastes. I am going to have a full peony bo-k, and wanted anenomes in my BM bo-ks and in my centerpieces.... Here's the arrangement I fell in love with and am copying for the BM's and centerpieces (without the prized anenomes)

he told me as long as they can get them sent to them, we can have them. So like Orchids and Gardeniaas can be shipped to them. Ill have to call and ask about Peonies then. Now im nervous!

you can still get them other times but like you said they will be expensive...when i went the beginning of february to get flowers for my e-party they had peonies in the wholesale flower district, which charges less than florists, it was $5 a stem since it wasn't in season but florists will charge alot more

Re: What kind of flowers are these?
I just emailed my florist asking if they will be able to get them in late March- so Ill see what their response is and take it from there.
Thanks ladies for your help!

Re: What kind of flowers are these?
you may be able to get them out of season, but I've heard that the out of season peonies are much more fragile, and are much smaller.... at that point, they look like roses, and may not last the full day. That's why florists in general won't use them outside of may and june....
I was told by my florist that there are pics of many outragoues bo-ks and boutenieres in bridal mags that are simply not practicle. Besides the cost, they simply are too delicate to use for the day.
I wanted a hydrangea bouteniere with one tiny flower from the hydrangea, as pictured in martha stewart weddings, and she said it wouldn't even survive the 5 min trip from the shop to our church
just something to keep in mind while looking at fantasty flowers....

Oh no! I emailed them earlier and havn't heard back yet- but is that what they told you? How did you find that out? They told me as long as they could get it we could have it- he didn't say they had to be in season cus a lot of flowers are imported.

Re: What kind of flowers are these?
FYI- I spoke to my florist and they said that where I am at the end of March, they may be able to get them, but it is going to depend on the weather and they wont be able to say till about 3 weeks before the wedding. So they said if they can get them, then I can use them in whatever I like, but I should have a backup just incase.

The weather has been pretty decent this year so they prolly had no problem getting them- and they arn't charging you extra right? So far I am very happy with Burtons!
