What kind of frosting will your cake have (w/poll)

I want to know which kind of frosting is better - whipped cream or buttercream. What is the difference between the two?

i had fondant.

since you're an august bride, i wouldn't do whipped cream as it melts easily. most bakeries push buttercream or fondant for warm weather weddings. plus i think buttercream is tastier!

We did buttercream b/c we we were warned that if we used whipped cream, the cake would have to stay refrigerated, so as not to melt off the cake or go bad in the heat.

Yes, you have to refridgerate whipped cream. Butter cream doesn't have to be refridgerated.

We're doing butter cream because it's my favorite (FH only really eats ice cream cake or the kind you make from a box so he's indifferent as long as it doesn't have fruit filling).

I wanted fondant with a thin layer of buttercream underneath. But, the fondant cost extra so I said nevermind!

we had whipped cream, we don't really like butter cream or any of the other toppings and it was just fine - the cake was out the entire reception.

I would like whipped cream. I hate butter cream....I hope it dosent melt throughout the reception

yeah, but the cake is indoors in the A/C so it doesn't matter.

Neither is better, it is a matter of personal taste. I prefer whipped cream (ingredients: heavy cream and sugar) over buttercream (ingredients: butter or crisco depending on whether the frosting is to be white or colored, vanilla, and powdered sugar).
