I didn't make these, but I deal with paper a lot & the higher the #, the stiffer & with vellum, the more opaque it is.

I would imagine you'd want it to bend easily, so I'd stay away from card stock.. I think the #28 or#29 woudl eb sturdy enough, but still bend & let light through.

Do a search because I know it was posted that there is a company that makes the vellum that goes right on the votive. You just run through printer and pop out the vellum an put it on. Everything is all lined up for you.

I hope you find it! It seems so much easier! I think they sell it at Michaels!

save yourself a ton of time! go to michaels they sell precut votive place card wraps, you just put them through the printer and then wrap them onto your votives with double sided tape!

Oh thanks but I don't like the hearts on them and as yet they don't make them without.

Tourist - thank you for the info, that's the number I was looking at, the one in between.

I don't remember exactly but I used a very thin vellum...probably less than 29#. The thinner it is, the easier it is to cut to the candle and the more of a 'glow' it gives.

Oooh, this is actually an old post of mine that someone bumped up but I haven't ordered it yet. I know you're super crafty (I've seen your wedding stuff and website ) - of the following, which do you think I should order (if you don't mind)?

17
28
40

Thanks

Hmmm...it depends. I would probably get 28 rather than 17 since 17 will be great in terms of light and easy to cut..but will be too easy to rip while you are packing them to bring to the hall. So I'd go with 28 of those options. Definitely nothing thicker than that though.

What type of votives did you use?

I'm using tealights, not votives. That's what gives it the flickering light feel. I got them at Ikea on Saturday - each bag of 100 was $3.49.

Thanks! What are you putting the tea lights in? A small votive holder? I'm sorry I have so many questions I just think that the placecard candles give such an awesome look and I'm thinking about using them.

to cut them in a curved shape and keep the names in the same position on each so you make a template in word? or just trace one onto each sheet from a master? just wondering how you keep the shape of each the same and the position of the names.
