It depends on where the focal points of your gown are, the cut of your gown, and your height.
I wanted fingertip but my gown has big, elaborate bell sleeves and a fingertip would interfere with them, so I got elbow. I am also wearing a cathedral with the elbow for the ceremony only.
I think fingertip veils look especially nice with A-line gowns. Mine is a very full ball gown.

I have no idea either. I just bought my third veil. I am totally out of control. I think I will probably go with a 2 tier fingertip veil with thin satin cord trim. And a blusher. I am also looking into the cathedral length. Sorry I am really no help

Show me pics of your gowns and I'll help as best I can!
You should try both on with your gowns and see which look you like better...

I have a strapless and I;m probably going to get a 2 tier fingertip with the rolled edge. I haven't decided if I'm going to wear a blusher yet, but if I decide then I have one of the layers...

Mine is strapless and I have a 2 tier raw edge fingertip veil. It's actually more waistlength.

i had an elbow length 2 tiered veil with cording on the edging....here's an idea of where it ended on the back of my gown
I have a Maggie strapless gown, and I'm wearing a one-tier raw edge wrist-length veil with scattered crystals. Here's a photo (poor photo!) from my first fitting.
