I am looking to buy a new computer. What make/model would you recommend. And who has the best prices?
Thanks

I have a Dell at home and at work and I love both of them. You can get a great system for $600.

I am looking at Dell. The one I want is about $1200. Its the Dimension 4600c. It comes with the flat screen and the space saver tower. It that to much?

Apple Powerbook Lap top.
It's one of the best things I've ever bought.

Plus Macs aren't targets for viruses. This is why I am going for a Mac on my next computer purchase.

If you are buying a mac solely for the benefit of being 'virus-free'... that would be a very bad decision.
Mac Viruses are on the rise... and companies like Symantec are making more and more cash selling anti-virus software to mac users.

As far as I know there has been only 1 major virus for Apples in the past few years- and that was for the iTunes/MP3s..
Compared with the almost weekly viruses for PCs and with PCs having a HUGE market share, I'm sure we'll be safe for a while.
Apple actually does their own security updates every month that you download- you don't need the anti viral software.

The iMac - it looks like an old-school, salon hairdryer.

I have a new Toshiba Satilite.
I HAD a Dell Inspiron 8000 (laptop)which in the 3 years I had it needed a new LCD screen, keyboard, touch pad, hard drive, the power cord came apart on 2 different cords AND both my USB's broke...

Re: What make of computer do you have?
Posted by ChristineC68 There are still not as many mac viruses are there are pc viruses. And symantic is already making money off me for my pc software that does not work!
My IT guy here read somewhere that 93% of pc's have some sort of spyware, hijacker or virus on them.
Of course this would not be my only reason to get a MAC - but it is one of them.
Well that was what I was saying. If thats your only reason to buy a mac... to be virus free... thats just silly. Give it a year or so and I betcha the Mac virus volume will double.
Part of the reason why Macs aren't having issues with viruses is because of the transition to OSX and the retirement of Internet Explorer and the implementation of Safari.
Once Safari becomes more mainstream in the Mac World... the hackers will find a way to break it.

I have a Dell Dimension 8300 with a 20 inch flat screen (couldn't decide between the 19 or the 20, glad I went with the 20).
