What makes a wedding amazing?

when you have gone to a wedding, what little (or big) things have stood out that made you say 'wow this is one hell of a wedding'.

or what do you think makes a wedding. For me its a mix between great food, great music, and ambiance(lighting and decor). For me lighting and decor are very important to give the RH a certain feeling. FH is very big on 'we must have the best band or dj out there' lol. and we all want really good food haha.

I looove good food, and a wedding that has awesome food is bonus BUT as long as you can eat it, can wash it down with a bay breeze and it doesn't kill you, i would have to say the band/dj can really spice up the wedding. i looked at 10 bands, the few that i really liked were booked for my date :( except Heart and Soul, who we ended up going with. They were very good and I have heard mostly good things, but you never know (it is LIVE music, they could have an off night).

Just to be a devil's advocate, what really makes or breaks it is the people! First of all, a lot of people take their cue from the new bride and groom in terms of how much fun they are having, dancing, drinking or whatever. Some groups just don't like to dance. My mom thinks the dance floor is the fun-o-meter of a party. She's constantly dragging people onto the dance floor to have a good time, lol! (ie at my engagement party!)

So basically, make sure you are having a blast, get a good group of people together with good music and you have yourself a party!!

I think what makes a wedding amazing is the food and the music. My friends wedding two years ago is a wedding I still talk about. Her cocktail hour was great with a wide variety of station I had not seen before at wedding. Her dessert hour was also great hand passed minnie pastries and when you left she had the RH hall take down her center pieces and make bouquets for everyone and then you had the opportunity to make up little goodies bags of food. Such as muffins, pastries, bagels, donuts the food was endless. Its the one wedding I can truly remember.

has anyone seen anything extreme at a wedding that was over the top and amazing? like i remember when i was a kid i went to a bar mitzvah and the kid had actual dirt bikes as centerpieces. it was insane. they were huge dirt bikes suspended in air on a slant. i couldnt believe it lol i cant believe i still remember it!!!! lol

Good point about people following the bride and groom! i never thought of that.

I love when weddings are a true reflection of the bride and groom. from the ceremony to the last dance. It's always nice to see the couple's journey and their love for each other and their family. Can't help it - i'm the one who always cries

The food...and the entertainment. Dh and I went to a wedding this year where the food was good (not great, not bad) but the band they had was amazing!!! We just sat there (and danced!!) and were amazed. After that I totally understood why ppl choose bands over Djs, even though we were very happy with our DJ and MC. I also love when brides take the time to really carry their themes through...having been through the process I look at weddings so differently now and really appreciate the little personal touches. For ex, one of my friends got married about a year ago and had a sand dollar/beach theme. Her favors were white choc sand dollars, and she had sand dollar and beachy things all over to carry out her theme. I loved it!

Honestly I think it's the combination of everything.

The food is obviously a big part and of course the music is too. But like someone else said, as long as the bride and groom are having a good time, everyone else will. But of course, the guests need to be having fun as well....and I do believe sometimes that the dance floor is the fun-meter of a party, but I'm also a dancer so I guess I'm biased

Def glowing on your big day :) but most importantly having your friends and family and people who you love and had always been there for you to celebrate a big day in your life. Yes, the food plays a major factor as well as the decor and lighting of the room. Music can either liven the party or in other scenarios completely alter and kill the mood. For our wedding, it was important that we put our own special touch to things like selecting songs that are special to us, working with the caterer with the menu, rentals, etc. It's really a combination of everything but I agree with most brides & brides to be that it is really the bride & groom that leads which can pump the party up or not.
