what material is charmuse?

FMIL got her gown, aside from the fact that I am attempting to figure out WHY she spend over 2k on it, I am trying to visualize this dress.

Its a Ysa Makino, like an olive green dress, straight down with a tiny opening/flare by the calves, charmuse....then from under the bust to the waist are a few beading/crystal things, then plain all the way down.......matching shawl. HAS ANYONE SEEN THIS!?! lol

I believe charmuse is that shiny, clingy fabric.

Yup that's what it is. I have a few dresses in that fabric.

Charmeuse is a lightweight fabric woven with a satin weave, where the warp threads cross over three or more of the backing (weft) threads. The front side of the fabric has a satin finish - lustrous and reflective - whereas the back has a dull finish. It can be made of silk, or a synthetic lookalike such as polyester. Silk charmeuse is more expensive and delicate, but is softer and a better insulator. Polyester charmeuse is cheaper and can often withstand machine washing, but it doesn't breathe as well as silk. Charmeuse differs from plain satin in that charmeuse is softer and lighter in weight.

yeah i don't think that is it - she said its halter and its straight down, not layer-ey........I don't really care but I just wanted to get an idea........I guess I can wait for her fittings to see it!
