I'm using Cannon in D (we've got a violin trio, sound it should sound great in the church)...
Do the Bridal party usually walk down to just 'prelude' music?
I'm contemplating having them walk down to the beginning of Cannon in D because it's a long a beautiful song, and if I walk down to it only, you won't get a good just of the song (Infant Jesus isn't that large of a church).
I'm going to call the music coordinator at the church and see what she recommends, but I'm curious to hear what everyone else is doing.

Well, I haven't discussed this with the music director at my church but what I want is for my BP to walk into an instumental version of Con Te Partiro and then I will walk into Canon in D. I don't mind if they don't get to hear alot of Canon because even just the beginning is so beautiful. Usually there is a nice dramatic pause before the bride walks in anyway so that'll squeeze in a little more of the song. But I see nothing wrong with having it for the BP too. But, I also like the idea of the Bride getting her own song for her walk up the aisle.

I am working on this now too. I am not using the traditional 'Here comes the bride' I am considering Canon in D also, or maybe the Trumpet Voluntary (Clark). I am thinking about Vivaldis' Autumn for my BM's. I'm still stumped on the recessional. From what I understand, the music is broken up into the prelude, the BM's processional, brides processional, ceremony (unity candle, etc.), and recessional. Canon in D is beautiful, and you certainly should do what you like, but IMO I think it's important to have different music for the brides processional. The music should announce your arrival, so to speak. That may be lost if you have the same music for both.
I'm sure your music coordinator will have good suggestions as to what will work. Good luck!

I love Trumpet Voluntary, but because I'm using violins, I don't want that particular song...I was so close to having trumpets instead of violins just so I could use that song, but Cannon in D won my heart.

I'm not sure what to do about different music for myself...I'm only having an MOH, so it doesn't really make much sense to me to have two different songs, even though we'll have our parents walk in to the music also...
I'm using BAch's Violin Concerto in G minor, just not sure if I want to switch over to 'here comes the bride'
For the recessional, we're using The ARrival of the Queen of Sheba...

Can someone post a link to a sample of these songs. They all sound so beautiful. I have not really given this part much thought yet

I am walking down to the traditional 'Here Comes the Bride' and my bridal party will be walking down to 'Joy of Man's Desire'. I listened to alot of music before I chose and these were the two I liked the most.

I'm probably using Pachbel's Canon for BP and Here Comes the Bride for me. I always get goose bumps at other weddings, so I think that's the right choice for me!

Re: What music are you using to walk down the aisle, and is if different than you BPs music?
Kathy, I just got married at IJ and I used Canon in D for the bP & Trumpet Voluntary for myself. You should be getting a card in the mail though, inviting you to one of their music sessions so you can hear all the ones that they recommend. Therese Blanton, the music director, is great. She will sing or hum any song over the phone if you're not sure of the tune. At the music session we attended, they were also very honest about which ones they personally think are prettier, which ones they enjoy performing more & which ones go well together if you do use 2 different songs. GL!
