We invited FH's second counsin to the wedding (he and his wife are older) and we addressed the invitation to Mr. and Mrs. XXXX. Wouldn't you know, they write back on the response saying 'Mr. and Mrs. XXXX will attend. We will be bringing Child 1, Child 2 and Child 3.' ARE THEY FOR REAL??????? I mean REALLY, where do these people get the balls to do this sh*t?????
call them and tell them you have a set maximum and it's a kid-free wedding (if it is). babysitters were invented for a reason. parents need to get a clue sometimes.

It almost pisses me off that we even have to deal with them politely. Clearly, all etiquette went out the window when they decided that THEY were going to take it upon themselves to change OUR guest list. Why should I have to explain WHY their children weren't invited???? THEY JUST WEREN'T!!!! As it happens to be, we're only having my first cousins who are in the bridal party, but even if we did have other kids there, if theirs weren't invited, that's that!!!! As if you don't deal with enough crap when you plan a wedding.....who needs one more wrench thrown into the mix?!
LOL same thing happened with us! We invited one of fh's counsins and she WHITED OUT the '1 persons attending' (we had that so people knew how many guests they were allowed, if any) and then put 3 on the check off line for will be attending. I had to call her about it so now she decided she's not coming at all because her kids aren't invited.
Please half of FH's side of the family did that AND their teen kids are bringing a guest. I gave up being annoyed...too tired at this point!

Im just waiting for my cousin to do something like that, she seems to think her kids who are 7 & 10 are 21, just because she has so much money......I hate people like that, I am not having kids at the wedding, so either she wont reply or will reply like a month late, or with reply with a note with the kids name on it.....I have had it up to here with her, as she never even answered my shower invite at all, so my bridesmaid has said, she never showed up either and sent a gift though, two weeks late, I traveled all the way to NYC for her darn shower, kind of glad she didnt come though. Then I had one cousin who said she was coming to the coed shower with her husband, the girls layed out 75.00 per plate, she even ruined the surprise for me and called me personally saying she was coming and had the nerve to not show up and not send a gift,,,,,UN FREAKIN BELIEVABLE, IT TAKES ALL KINDS, SO FOR THAT I DID NOT INVITE HER TO THE WEDDING, WOULD YOU...sorry to go on and on but its not only you....
What I don't understand is why do people even WANT to bring their children to a wedding??? It's not a fun place for kids----it's not like a bar/bat mitzvah where there are a bunch of kids. It's an all adult affair, for the most part. And if you were the parents of these children, wouldn't you have a better time if you weren't stuck watching your kids all night???????
