Re: What's different about your wedding?

1. we are having an acapella group during the ceremony and the bridal party is walking out to stand by me, I will be walking out to only have eyes for you and when its all over we are both walking together to I'm yours
2. We have created our own photo area with vintage props to go with our theme. For props we have top hats, pipes, monocles, fans, lace parasol, hair feather, and mustache sticks
3. One of the rooms that we have at the venue is a library so I recovered old books and am putting new titles on them reflective of the guests, these will be used as centerpieces for the tables in the library
4. We are incorporating traditions from the hindu religion and my italian background into the wedding
5. FHs family is coming from Trinidad and they are bringing some sweets to share at dessert time
6. Fh wants tassa drummers at the wedding
7. My little lady to put all the wedding cards in.

Re: What's different about your wedding?

our tables instead of numbers are going to be locations/events that FH and I have shared throughout the years with a picture and on the back tells the story (i.e lake george, jimmy buffet, nantucket)

I reallllllly want a cocktail party instead of sit down but it depends on where we book our RH and if they will do that for a minimum$ amount of a sat night

as a wedding gift i wanted to hire the FDNY bagpipers to come and play at the reception (we arent irish but my stepdad is very and since he is a Fdny its perfect)

once again depending on RH-I want a food truck outside having hot pretxels, burgers, fries, basically all the late night munchy snacks

ETA: our first song is the reggae song 'Reasons' by UB40 its fast and its fun but we
ub40 and the lyrics of the song are amazing

Re: What's different about your wedding?

We're having a swing band and (hopefully) a quick swing dance lesson for all the guests. And of course our first dance will be a swing dance, probably partially choreographed, but hopefully mostly just well practiced.

Our ceremony songs will definitely not be traditional as well, but theyre not picked yet.

I think theres more but I'm tired and nothing is standing out right now. Love this thread though, its fun to read all the unique ideas!

I love this thread. LOL, the problem is I don't think my wedding has anything completely different that I haven't seen already. Whoops.

Re: What's different about your wedding?

Cigar Roller

A Dunkin Donuts Coffee Station (my FH is obsessed) with the 1/2 dozen Boxes that guests can fill up and take home

Our Favors are Cook Books that we had binded and made up of our favorite recipes from family and friends with pictures of us in it. (My FH is a Chef/Restaurant Owner and I am a Certified Pastry Chef)

Instead of coming out of the wall in Russo's on the Bay in the Renaissance Room we are going to come out of the doors but the waitstaff is going to hold sparklers

We are having a Jazz Rock Band for the Cocktail Hour and Bongos Drums for the Reception.

I think I'm done :)

I forgot one thing! Each guest or couple is leaving with the Sunday Paper (Saturday night wedding) and a 1/2 dozen bagels

That's awesome! If I could have afforded it I would have done a Big Band and DJ.

Re: What's different about your wedding?

Nothing REALLY different....but....

A band instead of a DJ (which isn't really uncommon)--but this was SO important to FH and I! (Sound Image if anyone was wondering)

DIY centerpieces--Copper lanterns with fake leaves glued to them, and pumkpins around that (fall wedding!)

And I will be desinging all of the paper stuff--STD's, invites, menus, napkins, table numbers, etc.

And I think I'm going to have pumkpin spiced beer as our signature drink

Love fall

Re: What's different about your wedding?

Some are unique others have been done before, but they still make me super happy!

Brass Ensemble for the ceremony
Streamers for the exit
Steel Drummer for the CH
Belly Dancer for the Reception
Cigar Roller for the VH
Donation Favor in lieu of a stereotypical one (but the guests are still getting 'take home' boxes so they can steal some yumminess from the VH) haha

My cousin had the FDNY bagpipers at his wedding! He's FDNY, so is his father, so it was a big hit. It was a surprise for my cousin, all of a sudden they marched into the reception!

Re: What's different about your wedding?

Our wedding is going to be rock heavy, which may not be so different, but for my family it is, and for some of fh more traditional family. We will play spanish music and dance music, but FH love rock, and can't imagine not hearing our favorite bands on our wedding day. Our music is so important to us.
