I'm coming to NY next march to get married, not booked a location, not got a dress , HELP!!
Having an evening reception back in the UK.
I want to look like a bride (although old at 46) but I don't want to look too weird walking round NY in a wedding dress yet I want to feel like a bride -if you know what i mean!! I also want to be able to wear it at the reception. So a long or short, -I don't really fancy trousers.
Also, as I'm having no bridesmaids, I don't want to look out of place at the reception but I want to look good and bride-like . what conundrum !!
all suggestions gratefully received.

Re: what shall I wear???
do you want to wear a gown, but a low-key one? or do you want something that's white but not really a wedding dress?
while expensive, melissa sweet (priscilla of boston) has a lot of beautifully made dresses that are are simple--especially sheath dresses. that might interest you.
i also like pronovias for something slender and classy that doesn't scream bride but everyone would know who you were if your wore it.
you might also consider getting a high-end BM dress in champagne or white. POB BM dresses are absolutely stunning.
here's the other thing, don't worry about people reacting to you in the city. nothing surprises NYers. all kinds of crazy stuff happens there everyday. people will know why you're wearing a wedding gown.

Re: what shall I wear???
I actually saw a couple get married in CP while I was taking my E-pics and they were from another country. She wore a white dress but it was knee length with a pink sash around her waist. Her husband wore a suit. She also had a pink shawl to match. They looked very nice.

Re: what shall I wear???
I've not tried anything on yet, been busy with big house extension but times rocking on!!
My 1st wedding dress was puffy (white with pink frills and silver lily of the valley flowers-i loved it). I'm not sure about wearing white/cream as they're not my usual colour. I'd like a purple dress as my hair has plum/purple colours in it. I'd like a bit of sparkle aswell. (With my 1st dress my mum adv me against sparkly as she said it wouldn't be seen on photos!!)
I'd like it a bit fitted with a flare or a kick or fishtail or something at the bottom - don't ask for much do I ??
Wedding location...Central Park or Times Square ? Are there still some trees/gardens outside Macys? could that be a wedding location? Thenwe could go shopping after ?

The one on the right is gorgeous, what an ace colour.
I want a bouquet with 'exotic flowers' in purples, reds and orange with nice greenery.
Do you think, when I come to NY on the Wednesday with a plan to get married on the Friday (27th March-my birthday) -that if I go to a florist somewhere, they'd have it made up in time for the Friday??

yes, but you'll be limited in flower selection bc they will have to work with what they have in stock. generally with a wedding florist, they order what you want ahead of time. you may want to call and discuss with with the florist what you plan to use ahead of time if you have specific ideas about what you want, especially tropical blooms in march.

Re: what shall I wear???
I have a friend who is a florist in NYC. . if you want FM me and I will give you her info, then you could just ask her ahead of time to make something up for you and you could pick it up. . im sure you would be fine just getting something day of too s you dont need anything elaborate
I don't think there are great gardens outside of macy's anymore. ..
there are lots of places in central park, also some gorgeous spots near the river on the west side..
tried to cut and paste this from e bay ..hope it works..
thanks for the help with flowers..+
whereabouts 'near the river on the westside'
If the green dress is displayed...what do you think?

1. 46 is NOT OLD 2. Where are you in the UK? I have family and friends out in Bristol, bath to be exact... 3. What about a simple 'destination wedding' dress. Davids bridal has the galina collection, Alfred angelo has a nice collection as well. Simple sleek and elegant but not too over done?

Thanks for the suggestions about the dresses..i think I'll be starting a poll at work at this rate
I'm in North West England, near Manchester, but I went to Bath years ago and it was lovely , really lovely. All round there is!
