I am just beginning to decide what to pack for our honeymoon. I haven't been a 'real' vacation in so long. For those of you that have been to Aruba, or and vacation island, what are some essentials that I should bring? Also, we really just want to relax during the day and have nice dinners, are shorts, t-shirts, and sundresses good enough?

Re: What should I bring to ARUBA?
Yup -- that's exactly what I brought with me!! Bring sunscreen too because the sun does get pretty hot if you tend to burn easily. Even when we went to a 'fancy' dinner, I wore a sundress and my DH wore 'dressy' shorts and a nice shirt. It's pretty casual.
Where are you staying?

Hey Nina...good luck to you about a week to go! Please post about Aruba and what you did when you get back if you can. I am going to Aruba for my honeymoon in October and I would love some advice as to what to do. We haven't gone away together for this long EVER!!! I am excited too.
Congrats and have fun on your honeymoon!

Re: What should I bring to ARUBA?
You're going to have a GREAT time and are going to LOVE IT!!! We stayed at the Marriott, but I saw the Wyndham and it looks beautiful. We went for 10 days and didn't want to come home! It was SOOOOO relaxing, especially after all the stress from planning and leading up to the big day! I'm jealous, I wish I was going there again! Actually, I wish I was there right NOW!!! LOL
Definitely go snorkeling, take a sunset sail, do some of the water sports (the tire one looked like a lot of fun, but we didn't get a chance to do it), rent a jeep to go see the Natural Bridge, Baby Beach, etc. Oh and definitely go to Il Gaucho for steak -- but make reservations! Enjoy!!!
I didn't realize your wedding was next week!! GOOD LUCK AND CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

Nina-
If you have long hair, bring plenty of clips and ponytail holders. It is windy.
Also, you MUST DO the Kookoo Kunuku Bus. They have a website where you can make your reservations online and get a $5.00 discount. It is SO much Fun!!!
Have an awesome time!!!

You must do the kukoo kunukko party bus. We had so much fun. You also get a discount for being on your honeymoon. We went in February and stayed at the Allegro. Now that NYC teachers have a contract I am already planning a trip for my husband and I to go back as soon as I get my retroactive check. I wish we were there now. I didn't want to leave. Have a blast. I am so jealous

Bring cash for the casinos!
There are a lot of casinos in Aruba. It's one of the places we are considering, since we both like to gamble.
Even if you don't, bring a roll of quarters and try the slots!
Bring sunscreen since you are very close to the Equator and light clothing and a sundress in case you want to eat at one of the better places!

Any time I've been away to the caribbean, I've always thought 'you can never have enough sundresses!' A pareo to wrap around your swimsuit is handy too.

Re: Bring cash for the casinos!
For Aruba, I would suggest bringing anything you need and don't want to buy. The reason I say this is because when we were there for our honeymoon, we didn't take the time to pack all the 'essentials' because we were so busy with our wedding, so we figured we'd just buy it there...
Big Mistake. It is sooooo expensive. Don't get me wrong, we absolutely loved Aruba and had THE best time, but sunscreen? About $20, underwater camera? $30...
Feel free to look at my website www.robandlinda.com and click on the 'honeymoon' link to read all about what we did in Aruba. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to email me at [email protected]

Re: Bring cash for the casinos!
I was going to put a post like the one above. At night when you are going to dinner or out for the evening, forget about wearing your hair down. I always had to clip mine because of the wind. Also, we tried a very romantic restaurant. It is called Papiamento. It was in an old house in the yard surrounded by a pool. It was very romantic and an unforgettable dinner.
