What should I Do?

I am an older bride (36) most of my family/friends are married already. Instead of throwing the bouquet because nobody will be behind me...LOL What should i do?

The anniversary dance? You would then give the bouquet to the wife of the couple who stays on the dance floor the longest.

we did the bo-k and garter toss....but because we dont have many single friends we gave a prize away to whoever caught it....i got a box on guiness glasses for the guy and a purse brite organizer for the lady. I had the DJ announce about it and tell them that anyone can get up and do it that there would be no putting the gater back on! People really like the idea. If we didnt do that i would have had 3 people behind me and DH 2 lol

Why don't you throw the bouquet and whichever married woman catches it gets to have an extramarital affair.

I'm not doing the b0k or garter toss. We're not replacing anything with it but you can give the bo-k to the people that have been married the longest. Another thing is an anniversary dance.

I'm 37 and I'm in the same boat and honestly, I never liked the bok/garter toss to begin with so we're just scrapping the whole thing - no anniversary dance, nothing.

So, you can either do the anniversary dance or nothing at all.

invite all women, single and married to get up and do a wish toss... the one that catches the bo k gets their wish.

We decided that this is what we are going to do....at least that is what we decided on Sunday...it could change!!!

Re: What should I Do?

we had DH remove the garter, because its a fun & memorable moment (i surprised him with 4 different garters, 3 of them sports themed )

we did the anniversary dance, and gave the bo-k to my grandparents who had been married the longest.

no one got the garter b/c my grandpa doesn't need his grandaughter's garter

I think I'm going to put my BoK on my Nan's grave the day after my wedding.

go for it.....we were thinking about doing the anniversary dance but theere are a good ammount of people who have lost their husband/wife and it may be upsetting for them. I wouldnt do it if that was the case for some guests......i say if you are not gonna do the regular toss or something everyine can be involved in than you are better off doing nothing this way noone gets upset....you will also have people who WANT to catch the bo-k and garter thats why we decided on what we did lol this way everyone was happy

Re: What should I Do?

I loved the idea of the anniversary dance but my whole thing with that is my grandfather passed away 12 years ago so I could just hear my grandmother ( who's still, understandably, bitter) saying its not fair that she has no one to dance with and if my grandfather were still alive then they could be the ones up there dancing the longest, etc.

It's definitly a nice way to recognize lasting marriages though.

Re: What should I Do?

I'm a similar boat...most of our friends and cousins are married, and almost all the single ladies and lads are close to or over 30 and don't like getting up for the bouquet toss and garter toss

I want to ditch them both, but FH REEEAAALLLYYYY wants to do the garter removal...

Re: What should I Do?

We are doing the garter removal (FH really wants to). Then we are inviting his grandparents up to dance to their wedding song. His grandmother is in a wheel chair so we may start calling up all couples but doing it backwards with the most recent ones first.

That is the plan but that can all change!
