What should I do???? UPDATE

My e-ring is a three stone ring with Pave' half way around the band (I hope that make sense). Yesterday one of the pave' diamonds fell out.... FH has the insurance on the ring so it can be replaced but now I have to give it to the jeweler to fix and they will probably have to send it out to be fixed. (FH got my ring from Kay Jewelers.) I don't want to give up my ring for a week. My finger will feel naked without it! I am also worried that this will be a re-occuring problem. I have only been wearing the ring since early December 06.

Is this normal for pave settings?

FH has mentioned to me that he wanted to upgrade my ring before the wedding, but I told him that I love my ring and I don't want another one (not right now anyway). I told him we can upgrade later for an anniversary or something. But now we are wondering if we should upgrade it to a new ring now without the pave settiing so I won't have to worry about the stones falling out. I don't want to have to give up my ring for a week to get it fixed everytime a diamond falls out.

What do you guys think?

UPDATE:

OK, so I took the ring back to Kays on friday 4/27. They were supposed to replace the stone and then check & tighten all of the other pave diamonds.

I picked it up on Wednesday 5/2. Now today Friday 5/4, another diamond from the pave setting is gone!!!!!!! This is exactly what I was afraid of!!!!! I called FH & I am definatly getting a new ring now...

FH wants his money back, but Kays will probably only want to replace it. He baought the ring in Aug 06 but he didn't propose until Dec06. So I have only been wearing the ring for about 5 months.

I am so upset beacause I love my ring and i think it is beautiful. But i do not want to have to worry about these pave stones falling out all the time!!!

i say get it fixed asap. because god forbid you push this for too long, your wedding day will come, and you will have a missing stone in your wedding pix

I had to give my ring to my jeweler so many times i cant even remember! It SUUUUCKS! The worst feeling ever, but it will be worth it on the wedding day.

As far as the pave setting, i really dont know if this is common... But sh!t happens and this is probably just a fluke thing... DONT worry that it'll happen again! Just get it fixed and wear it proudly!

Re: What should I do????

With the nature of pave settings, it does happen. However, it should not happen often because if they're positioned properly in the ring, they should stay where they are.

I had a pave stone fall out about a month or two after I got engaged - but that was because I had the ring sized soon after getting it (it was too big) and they said that stones in the band can get loose with sizing. The should have checked all the stones after sizing the ring, but didn't. Luckily my FH got my ring in the diamond district so as soon as I realized a stone was missing, we took it back and within minutes had replaced it - no sending out.

I would get the new ring. I have a three stone rign with the diamonds 1/2 way around but mine haven't given me any problems. I would get a different one if your not happy with it.

I agree - definitely get another ring, money back, etc. I have a pave ring that goes all around and I have not had a diamond fall out yet (knock on wood). I do know that with pave it is not uncommon for the stones to occassionally fall out, but not after only 5 months, and so many times!

Sorry to hear about that.

I have a pave ering and w-ring and have no problems after wearing my ering for 1.5 years. I would demand they do something for you!
