What should I do with my dress????

Ok, so I bought my dress from David's Bridal....hate the place, love the dress. Now, my wedding is not until May of -08. I am so afraid of putting the dress...anywhere! I'm afraid if I store it downstairs that it will be too moist in the basement. It gets EXTREMELY warm upstairs in the spare bedroom. Any ideas??? It's in the garment bag that David's gave me. Just not sure if it's enough.

do u know anyone else that can store ur dress in a spare bedroom for u thats not too warm?

Not really...grandma's house has that...weird smell...lol...my folks have a spare bedroom for now, but my brother comes home from the Marines soon and he will be in there...I'm almost having second thoughts about buying the dress!!!

Mine was in my basement apt until we had a flood during the noreaster and now its hanging in the dining room lol. My mother could care less cuz theres def. nowhere else to put it.

i have heard this happen to other people that get it early and then have no place to put it

HEY! me and you are date twins!!! YAY!!!

i'm storing it at my aunt's house... she offered & has a huge closet with nothing in it so there ya go! find yourself an empty closet lol

If you love it then I think you should buy it. You will find somewhere to store it. Parents House or sisters house?

dry cleaners usually have the option of storing clothing BUT i think i'd be paranoid about that.

do you have a friend who can store it for you? moh or bridesmaid or an aunt or cousin or your fmil?

wrap it in a white cotton sheet before putting it into the garment bag. this keeps the white from turning 'yellow'. also store the dress flat - do not hang it.

Totally unrelated, but, this made me think of it and laugh.... my mom still has her wedding dress in the closet of the spare room at their house!

My friend had the same issue. She called around and was told that David's gowns are made with a 'more easily tainted' fabric than other gowns. She was told to wrap her dress in white, 100% cotton and at least 400 thread count sheets away from sunlight and other garments. Apparently David's gowns can pick up the colors they're around very easily. I know it sounds odd but she followed the instructions up until her fittings and then left it out in her closet by a pink dress and the back of the gown had this pale, pale pink sheen on it....take my word, wrap it in sheets and hide it away!!!!!!
