I can't think of anything I can give up for an entire 40 days. I have it narrowed down to this:
diet coke swearing cookies candy bridal magazines (but that's a long shot)
I'm open to suggestions. Any thoughts?

I'm LMAO because I've been debating this all week!!! FH suggested swearing but I don't know if I can ...I'd have to not drive/work/go to school for the next 40 days!

I've given up chocolate in the past -- which for me is huge! I was thinking about giving up soft drinks (soda - ice tea - fruit punch - etc). I need to drink more water anyway!!

I give up junk food/sweets every year. It kills me, but when Easter finally comes I make up for it big time! (Cadbury eggs, Reese's pb cups, Hershey's dark chocolate.....mmmmmmmmmm).

Re: What should I give up for Lent?
I usually give up all fast food, but since I'm dieting and I can't have it, it wont be a sacrifice for me this year. I thought about giving up swearing, but my co-workers asked me not to. They say it makes them laugh when I curse. I am so lost as to what to give up. Maybe this year instead of giving up something, I'll make it a point to go out of my way to do something nice for somone each day. Does that work?

I'm giving up cookies, candy, ice cream, and alcohol. I'm so addicted to cookies and candy and I need to lose weight for my wedding. Alcohol will be a real sacrifice because I drink wine about 4 times a week!

Re: What should I give up for Lent?
I notice no one said they were giving up LIW Maybe our Peep Mushers should give up that evil practice!!!
I'm not Catholic and don't really follow the nuances of giving up for Lent, but someone once told me it does not only have to be depriving yourself of something you like, but that it could be doing something to improve yourself, such as exercising every day - is that true?

Re: What should I give up for Lent?
I give up all chocolate, soda and french fries every year! Apparently, being pregnant has no advantages when it comes to abstinence during Lent. I do get to avoid fasting tomorrow and Good Friday!
Karen - it's not necessarily 'improving' oneself through exercise (that would never happen for me! ), it's more about either giving of oneself, i.e. volunteering in a soup kitchen, or giving up something that's considered a *sacrifice*. Sadly, for me, giving up chocolate and soda is like cutting off an arm! LOL!! OK, that's a tad dramatic, but you get the point!

I'm giving up Chocolate. I just had a Hershey bar (my last bit of chocolate for the next 40 days)!!!
You can do something to better yourself as well - it doesn't have to be giving something up.
Good luck, whatever you choose.
