What should I know or do before I go try on dresses?

I am about to begin my search for the perfect dress.

What should I know before I go?
What should I wear or take with me?
What questions should i ask?

look through a few magazines and cut out some photos of dresses you like. This will help the attendant out alot. She can get a good idea on what type of style you are looking for.

Also, try on a bunch of options, and never settle. you'll know when you have found THE dress

Bring some pictures of the type of dresses you like. I would also suggest bringing a strapless bra. Wear the lightest amount of clothing possible. So it's easy to take off and to try on a lot of dresses. I hope you have an excellent time looking for dresses!

def bring a strapless bra... high heels...and pics of dresses you like! in my opinion, the three must haves! i have them in the trunk of my car, ready to go at all times lol!

also, bring an OPEN MIND! try on EVERY dress the lady suggests for you, even if you think it looks absolutely horrible on the rack!

make sure someone has a cellphone with a camera- if the place doesnt let you take pics, have someone take pics on the DL... the pics have helped me alot...dresses I loved on, I hated in pics and vice versa!

Bring a hair scrunchy..it's get hot very quickly..I would bring you camera too just in case you find the one once you put a deposit you can take pictures

Thank you ladies for all of your advice but I didnt get to put any of it to use.I got there and was totally ignored and felt like crap. When i called they told me if i came in today...meaning yesterday...i didnt have to make an appointment. I was there within the hour and when i got there they told me oh its about a 10 minute wait. they told me to look around. Since i had my daughter and step daughter with me I decided to look at dresses for them. Well after about half hour I went back to the front and the lady said...Oh I thought you were here for your daughters sweet 16 dress. What the hell shes 12 and does not even look 16 and the other one is 10.

Then I figured I would let the girls finish trying on dresses but it all became to overwhelming for me. There were tons of brides there with either thier mother or both of their parents and I'm there with 2 fighting kids. My parents live in FL and can't come up right now due to my fathers health so I can't have them their with me. After being in the store for about an hour and still not having an attendant I just left.

SO I put on my good draws for nothing.....

Wear full - bottom under wear! And just be open minded to many different style of dresses even if on the rack you don't love it. You will be surprised at what you end up falling in love with!

Sorry it didn't go well..were did you go? I know you want your kids to be a part of it but sometimes it might be best to go alone...that is what I did the 1st time..no one's opinions to get in the way

ahhhh so sorry that didnt turn out good!! Why not take a weekend trip to FL and try on dresses there with your mom... then you can always order it here and do your alterations here .... you can still have that mother/daughter experience.... keep looking for cheap flights... GOOD LUCK!!!

I tryed dresses on for the first time yesterday and just went to Estells bridal section bc you dont need any kind of appt. It was good bc i got a little bit of an idea of what i liked and there werent too many people there.

wear full underwear or even spanx. also bring a camera and have someone take pics of you in the ones you like so you can really see what you will look like in pictures.

yes estelles and bridal suite in bayshore both let you take pics!

estelles selection isnt great...but its an easy going place to go to, to get an idea of what you like

Once I told my dad what happened he bought me a t icket to FL. I love my parents...I am so close to them that doing this without the both of them has been hard. I am just nervous about buying the dress there. What if something goes wrong? I cant just drive there and get in someones face and my parents wont handle it like i would

honesty i am bringing a camera everywhere i go. If they want to charge you thousands of Dollars for a dress i want to know what i am going to look like in it in picutres.
