What should I say?

What should I say?

I have a quick question! I need to book a church before any of my vendors and Im curious if you have to show up in person or call for an appointment to meet with the pastor. I'm not getting married in the church that my parents belong to. If Im not a member of a church, what do I do?

Are you looking for a Catholic church? If so, this was my situation as well since I didnt want to get married in my parents parish. I made calls to churches in the area and told them I was getting married and asked if they married couples who were not members of the parish. Many of them won't, just so you know. But there are a bunch that will, but some still required a 'letter of permission' from my home parish. After I found out those that did accept those from the outside, I set up appointments to meet with the pastors. Always best to make an appt...you'll soon find that priests are some of the hardest people to get in touch with!!!

Re: What should I say?

Thanks for the advice! I'm lutheran so I would prefer to get married in a lutheran chuch. There is a really small pretty episcopalian church that is right behind the fish hatcheries in cold spring harbor that i was intersted in since it is closer to my reception hall and it is on a lake where i can take pictures. And I know that they will marry any religion!
