What should I serve my students & their families after the ceremony?
Hi ladies, As many of you know i'm a preschool teacher & owner. I am guessing about 40 of my students will be attending the ceremony w/ their parents. The children will be my 'flower children' and throw rose petals before I walk down the aisle.
I am having refreshments for the families after the ceremony in a room at the church.
What should I serve??
drinks: bottled water, juice & soda
cheese & crackers veggie platter a hero? i need more ideas (cold items nly)
I am having a cake & cupcakes thaks for your help.

what time is your ceremony? that could change things slightly.
also, to make things easier for yourself, you might want to consider only doing sweets instead of cheese/etc plus sweets. you can serve coffee/tea and juice alongside cupcakes, cookies, and a simple sheet cake. i think when people consider 'refreshments' at something like this they only expect dessert!

i would probably stick to the cupcakes.... it'll be like the wedding cake for the kids...
also, i will play devil's advocate here.... but do you really want 40 kids at your wedding? i Know as a teacher, and particularly for you, as the director of the child care center, they are a big part of your life. but as a teacher having taught pre-school, and now work with special ed. kids, i never once thought of having them at my wedding. . . .
kids at that age are SO unpredictable... your wedidng day goes so fast, escpecially the ceremony. IMO, i would have DIED if one of my kids starting fussing, they cried, they threw a tantrum, etc. etc. the 4 minutes it takes to say your vows, you will never get back again... how will you feel if at that moment a child cries or yells, or whatever?
I give you AMAZING credit for including your kids in your day... I am way too OCD for that!
GOOD LUCK!

I really love my kids and I think that it will make my day even more unique and special. I have already asked the parents and they are super excited and honored to have their children at my wedding. Honestly, my kids are amazing we had a really detailed Christmas show and they blew everyone away with their behavior. I am confident that the day will be great. I am not one to underestimate my students nor their decorum, as I think many people do. Set high but realistic expectations for your students and children and you will be surprised. :) I should also add that my mother (the director) and my fiance (a former teacher @ the school) are also close to the children so there is even more meaning in their presence at my wedding.
