What should I use to clean my tiara...help?

My tiara has been thru 4 hair trials and the hairspray has started to get to the metal - the rim inside is turning yellow-ish.
Any recommendations on how to clean it/what to use to clean it?

Hmmmm - it's silver in color that's all I know, not sure what metal it is

do you think it may be sterling silver? If so, you can use toothpaste to clean it up. I always brush toothpaste on my silver jewelry to shine it back to life. If it isn't silver, I wouldn't want you to scratch off the metal or anything... maybe just try soaking it in warm water

I'm kinda nervous for when I have my trials -- my headpiece is swarovski crystals and freshwater pearls from Winters & Rain. after the wedding you can send it back and they un-wire it to make jewlery from your headpiece.

but if it's all full of hairspray that won't be so good. call me crazy but I was thinking of guarding my headpiece with saran wrap or something when they spray the hairspray. am I crazy what do you think?

Believe it or not, Windex. Just spray a little on it and rinse w/warm water. It will be sparkling. I do this to clean all my jewelry.

I just picked up my headpiece from thomas Knoell and he warned me to make sure the hairspray doesn't gt onto it because the crysals would dull and it wouldn't be so sparkly-- So guard it with whatever works-- Saran wrap it up!!!!

When my headpiece came from Edward Berger, I left the plastic on it, and will for hair trials as to avoid the hairspray...

Phyllis at gownfind said that she cleans her samples by dipping them in silver jewelry cleaner. You can buy it at target, walmart,, or any drug store
