I am going into the city Saturday to see Mama Mia, but we are going in early to shop so i need to be dressed appropriate. I have not been to a show in years ..i dressed up last time, but to be dressed up and in the city all day shopping just does not seem practical...any ideas?

To be honest, although it is nice to dress up, it seems at shows, especially matinees that people are a lot more casual. I've seen people wearing jeans and sneakers and in the summer I saw a few people in shorts.
If you are shopping all day, I'd definitely dress comfortably, maybe khakis and a sweater?

People don't really dress up for shows too much anymore. I even see people in jeans. I wouldn't wear jeans but anything else would be fine.
Dress WARM, it's supposed to be freezing Sat.

Thanks. It is not a matinee though it is an evening show it is just that we are going in early to shop.
