my dear friend is having a very small wedding...her shower (this weekend) is going to be 10 people for brunch..my mom is not invited because the wedding is very very small. her mom came to my shower and got me a very nice gift..
my mom wanted me to get her something and i picked her up something prior to my own shower that was 1/2 the price of what her mom spent on me...but my mom is also not going to hers...should she spend more, or what she has is ok?
thanks.

seems like that would be fine, since your Mom wasn't actually invited to the shower. I think it's nice that she's even getting a gift at all and the bride will appreciate whatever it is.

Since she isn't invited to her shower and your friend's mom was (I assume) to yours, it's ok to get a gift that's less than what was spent on you.
