What special touches are you adding to your big day?
I'm so bored today ladies. Please share the cute stuff you are doing at your wedding to make it 'different'
ETA: I guess I should actually answer my own question! We are doing lots of DIY stuff...invites, menus, etc. We are also writing a personal note to each guest of a special memory we share with them and telling them how much it means to us to have them present on our special day (ie. i remember sleeping in a tent in your backyard every summer...things like that). Our favors are also XMas ornaments (FH and I's fave holiday)...they have a hollow center that we filled with potpourri made from flowers that FH has given to me throughout our relationship.

I am trying to stick to my 1920's/1930's theme but it has been hard!
I will have the BM's wear feather boas when they enter.
Trying to make my centerpieces reflect the theme too.
The tuxes may also be very 1920's as well as the music

just the fact that we're even getting married is 'special'. in both our families....no one gets married...they just stay with their baby's daddy or momma , unwed forever!
ETA: can i just tell you that when announced our engagement...i thnk every family/friend's first question was 'Are you pregnant or something?'
gotta love my ghetto style family!

i suppose i should actually ANSWER the question...we are gonna keep with our spanish roots and do the 13 Arras ceremony--exchanging of coins representing the groom making the bride the caretaker of his home and worldly goods.
we'll also take a crack at our own vows, but will probably LOL during the ceremony!

When we got prego Alexs family was thrilled! Next ? was whens the wedding???? LOL

At the reception, me and FH are going to make the toast.
We know our toasters would go on FOREVER, so we are having them do it at the RD (MOH, BM, brother, etc.)... because we dont want to 'waste' a minute of the reception (i.e. dancing and fun time!)
FH and I are going to thank everyone for coming and have a brief little toast to each 'group' of people.. childhood friends, parent's friends, work friends, etc.

I am the first one in my family of the grandchildren to get married so that wil be pretty special to my family and my FH is the last in his family to get married so that will be special to his family. We are thinking of getting a photobooth and/or cigar roller and I am not telling him what our first dance will be to, it's a surprise for him!

We wrote our vows and part of our ceremony - EVERYONE had something to say about it!! THAT was worth the time to do!! We had my DH's sister play the flute during the ceremony, I surprised my DH with hiring the band who wrote our first dance song come play it live (it's one of his favorite bands, they're from Cincinnati), I wore leopard shoes and all my girls wore leopard shoes (everyone knows I have 2 wildcat hybrids an Asian Leopard & a African Serval so I love leopard stuff! We had a friend of ours make us an arbor to get married under... I had lots of DIY - programs, etc... People DO notice all that stuff!! It was WORTH the time to make them!
