So there is this extremely negative woman who works in my office who makes it her personal hobby to start arguments with whomever she deems to be her 'target' that month. Yes, she's a real gem! Anyway, she's asking me all week if I've receive anything in the mail (I haven't) but won't tell me why. My FI just calls me and tells me we received something from our registry and he knows its one of the gifts I'm really excited about. Now, guess who it's from? YEP! The woman in my office. I don't mean to sound ungrateful but first of all, why would she GET me something and HOW did she find out where I'm registered??? I don't talk about the wedding at work for the express purpose that some people who work there will not be invited to the wedding. We're having an e-party in December but there is NO WAY I am inviting her. I'm not exaggerating when I tell you I cannot think of one nice thing to say about this woman. What do I do now? Is it rude to return the gift and put it back on my registry? Please help!!! I feel like the worst person!

A short polite thank you note. And leave it alone. Some people are a just a little crazy..

She is probably fishing for an invite knowing that nobody at the office likes her already.
Send a thank you note....but I would still not invite her to the party or the wedding.

I agree, just send a simple thank you note. She's def fishing for an invite and to get on your good side now that you're having a wedding, she doesn't want to be left out.

IMO, send her a thank you note. don't return the gift. you may not like her, but she clearly thought good enough about you to spend $ on your gift.
on a side note, she might have done that to 'earn' an invite to your wedding. so... I would make SURE to let her know that you're having a very small affair, even if you're not.
