Most Gaps will be turning into stores called 'Fourth And Town' for late 20's, early 30s. I'm not sure when it's happening but that's what going on. The clothes are a little more sophisticated. Gap couldn't compete with Abercrombie so those kinds of clothes will no longer be there....Not sure about Banana but they are all owned by the same company.
Gap to open four new concept stores in Chicago (2005-08-30)
Gap Inc. (San Francisco) will open four Forth & Towne stores in the Chicago area tomorrow, Aug. 31, 2005.
The specialty apparel retailer's new concept s aimed at women in their 40s and 50s. Gap opened the first Forth & Towne store last week in the Palisades Center Mall (West Nyack, N.Y.).
Tomorrow’s new store openings will be at Algonquin Commons (Algonquin, Ill.); Fox Valley Mall (Aurora, Ill.); Westfield Old Orchard (Skokie, Ill.); and Woodfield Mall (Schaumburg, Ill.).
The Chicago-area Forth & Towne stores will offer four new brands of women’s apparel: Allegory, Vocabulary, Prize and Gap Edition. Gap says the brands are tailored to a range of lifestyles, “offering distinct styles for casual, business or dress-up needs.”

and i botched the spelling...bad lana! ha ha! thanks for looking into it; i thought the one in whitman was going to be one b/c the entire store was on sale last week, but now i'm not sure.

might be cause the new line is coming out. probably just means last line didnt sell that well... (former Gap employee)
but a new store would be fun.

I am surprised the gap has lasting this long- I can't remember the last time I bought something there- it's there own fault- b/c they made Old Navy= cool, fun, cheap
and Banana became so nice, sophicated
the Gap got left behind! I used to olny wear gap in HS
