okay i will give you some background on them. they are older like 75(FFIL) 68(FMIL). I have been with my FH for like 7years now and they are impossible to buy for. the first year i got them a basket with wine,wine glasses and cookies (i made them). second i got them a gift certificate to a restuarant. they seemed to like it. I wanted to encourage them to go out. You know what they did with the gift certificate???? they took out the food. OMG Whatever they did enjoy it though because they did not have to cook. one year i got them a gift certificate to the mall for both of them. again they seemed to like it. last year i got them a gift card to go to the movies 50$ worth again another effort to have them go out. now my FH says to me oh dont get them that again. OMG so i guess they did not like it.
Help any suggestions on the horrible gift to get them this year???????MY FH IS NO HELP

I'd get them a photo album that says something about family. It's what I get all my family and in-laws when I am not sure of what to get them.

send them a case of steaks..... either omahasteaks.com or on qvc.com-qvc sells kansas city steaks, all kinds, all different prices...on of them even comes with cheesecake (i think the cheesecake is on omahasteaks.com).... also, you could send them fruit or chocolates, or other snacks from Harry and David's..... you could get them a gift certificate for blockbuster along with a tub of microwavalbe popcorn, and some candy that they like, with a restuarant gift certificate--that way they could get dinner to take out and watch movies...

ok don't laugh but one of the first years I was dating my DH I was so desperate for something for the IL's that I got them a Bagel Guillotine
I kinda thought they would either think it was stupid or just another thing to take up space on the counter, well they use it at least every weekend if not more!
Its so much safer than trying to cut a bagel with a knife. You can get them at BBB or LNT, they used to be around $25 the price may have come down maybe you can get something else breakfast/brunch related like maple syrup and a special pancake mix
Do they live in the Smithtown area? FH's parents are 55 and 58, but act 10 yrs older. Heavy, inactive people. No hobbies whatsoever.
I figure all old people like the old-people-group The Platters. They are performing at the Smithtown Performing Arts Center March 18th and 19th. I just bought FILs' tix today. The best seats are still available. FH is going to pick up a GC for dinner in that area too, so they can make a date of it.
Last year it was an embroidered couch-blankie from Things Remembered- that may be an idea for you too?!

I know it doesn't sound like much of a 'gift' but they have gift cards for the supermarket now. I know it sounds silly - but everyone needs groceries, right? I have a family member who is not having the best time financially right now and I got him a Waldbaum's gift card for Chanukah - he doesn't need another sweater, CD, etc - but help with the every day things. I know my grandparents are alittle bit older but we always get them something comfy to wear around the house, like a fleece zip up sweatshirt, and then we create a gift basket of foods they like to snack on. They need NOTHING and this usually is the best thing. I love the ll bean breakfast gift too! just wish it wasn't so expensive.
