What the hell....

I woke up this morning with my lips burning and have a HUGE canker sore on my tongue the size of a dime and my is gland swollen....

I am thinking long and hard as to what could have caused this.... Then it dawned on me. I ate shrimp last night. I LOVE shellfish. How much would it $uck if I couln't eat my precious shellfish anymore? That would make me SAD.

Has anyone ever had a weird reaction like this before? If so, what did you do for it.

I haven't had this before but I would get some benadryl just in case and if it goes down then you know it was an allergic reaction! I hope you feel better babe!

I don't know specifically for that but L-lysine is really good for canker sores in general. . it's just an amino acid supplement.. when you first take it, you take two four times a day. but I don't know if it would work for an allergic rx like yours. .that sounds awful. . I might go get it checked out

sometimes you can get an allergic rx to something if you have been eating a lot of it lately. . esp w/things like shellfish. .you might just need to lay off it for a while and then try again

doesnt a canker sore on the tongue or inside the mouth mean you have an infection or something? Are you feeling sick at all?

I am not feeling sick at all. I came to work today because I am alright despite the fact that I feel like my lips are pornstar sized...

Allergies can develop all of a sudden like this! Do you have any itching feelings in your throat or on your tongue? If so, it might be allergies...

I never had food allergies before and then all of a sudden I got them! It started when I was in my early 20s... Now I cannot eat a lot of raw fruits and vegetables because I have allergic reactions! I also developed allergies to Pistachios, hazelnuts and slightly to peanuts!

I would visit an allergist just in case (although they aren't very good at diagnosing real allergies! They told me I was allergic to green beans - which I am not, but not to carrots - which I am!) At the very least they can prescribe you with an Epi-pen in case you do have a much more severe reaction in the future!

My sister has the same problem when she eats cherries and my BM has the same problem with any type of peach and berries. Your body changes every 7 years and you could become allergic to something that you never were to before. I would go to an allergist and have them test you for food allergies

LOL, I thought of Hitch when I woke up this morning. I am thinking GREAT but at least I don't look as bad as he did in that movie. I love the scene in the drugstore when he sees himself in the security camera. LOL. Good flick.

I recently became allergic to alcohol. It's so weird how these reactions are popping up. It $ucks. Dr. said I overdid the drinking which could have led to the reaction. Shellfish? I eat that like a few times a month which I could have overdone that as well. I know the last time I had lobster I felt weird. My glands started to bother me but I didn't think anything of it. If I can't eat lobster anymore, I think I may cry.

Yea, you aren't kidding that they can pop up... I don't feel itchy. I just have a weird sensation in my lips and of course that yucky thing on my tongue. Sorry for the TMI! I think a trip to the allergist sounds like a plan.

Sounds to me that you should stay away from shell fish!!!. Each allergic reaction gets worse then the previous. Good luck, take some benadryl and enjoy a good sleep. Well maybe you should see a doctor first!!!!!!!!

I think that would be a safe bet.. I hope for your sake it turns out to be a coincidence since you like shellfish so much!! I miss eating apples and pears soooo much and I would never wish that on anyone!

Benedryl it is.. Im sorry that sounds pretty painful
