What time are you serving dessert and doing cake cutting?

What time are you serving dessert and doing cake cutting?

Quick question-

If dinner is served at 830, what time would you recommend serving dessert?
We have the space from 7 until midnight.

Also, is the dessert served before the cake cutting??

I have a separate caterer and pastry chef, so they are asking me for the timing

Not sure on the timing, but I'd assume dessert would be served after the cake cutting -- since the cake is the main part of the dessert, right?

I think it's a good idea to do the cake cutting close to the end of the reception (within the last hour for sure) especially if you want people to stay till the end, because I've noticed a lot of people leave right after the cake cutting.
