what time is dinner being served?

moms freakin me out...shes going over my contract with the hall and she tells me that dinner is served at 9:45pm

thats pretty late right?

My CH is from 6-7, then there will be salad + pasta served, then dinner, then cake, then viennese

i feel like my entire wedding revolves around food! where is all of the fun?

plus its a REALLY long day. My ceremony is @ 3pm , with the extra viennese hour it makes my reception 6 hours.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Not to be Debbie Downer, but my bosses daughter just got married this weekend and they didn't have dinner til like 9:15 and everyyyyone was complaining about it.

To be fair it was older women who were complaining - so if the majority of people you're inviting aren't like the crochety women I work with I think it's fine. Unless you plan to have an afternoon reception there's not really any way around it.

I would suggest that you call the RH to find out if there is any way to do dinner earlier....I wouldn't worry too much since everyone usually eats tons at the CH...then between the salad, and the pasta plus leaving time in between for dancing it may just work out.

My ceremony is at 11, my CH starts at 1, and I'm also having the vienesse so my whole reception ends at 7....which is in total, 6 hours.

Best bet is to call the RH.

Lots of luck!

That's probably when mine will be served as well, I would think between 9.30-9.45, but I have a 7.30 CH start so it shouldn't be toooo bad. Personally I don't think it's that bad.

Hang on.... So the viennesse hour is an EXTRA hour in addition to the normal reception time?
I am having a viennese hour and I don't THINK mine is like that. Hmm. Intersting. We are doing an hour and a half ch... then 4 hour reception and there is a viennese hr.. but it's in the ch room so they guests arent interrupted while partying! I think that's how it's going??...

Are most or all viennese hours in addition to the norm party hrs?

Even if dinner is that late.. it's not like anyone will go hungry.. there's going to be food all over the place from the moment they get there.

I think my dinner will start later. My CH starts at 8:30pm on a Friday. So what time will dinner be served?

Well if the salad starts at 7 that's what time I consider dinner being served, I mean will be sitting and eating, not starving

My ch is from 6:30 to 7:30 and then I have all those courses too. I'm sure dinner will be late for me too. But no one even eats the dinner. They eat all the cocktail hour food and then they get drunk and dance. By the time dinner comes, most people aren't hungry.

The course are usually broken up by dancing and partying. The first course is usually served as the guest are seated or before they actually arrive at their tables. Most of the weddings I have attended have had the guests go back and forth between food and dancing, toasts etc. Maybe you can call the RH and ask you BM exactly how they usually serve the courses. I am sure they have everything timed.

I have been to so many weddings and I can only tell you when dinner was served at one of them (it was a sunday evening wedding and they served dinner at 10:15ish maybe later...not good).

Honestly everyone is going to eat at the CH and then eat salad and pasta and dance I really dont think its a huge deal that dinner is served that late. I would call them and maybe ask to have it moved up to 9:15ish otherwise I really wouldn't stress out about it too much. Also i wouldnt worry about how long the day is.. if someone is tired they will leave but I am sure you will be surprised by how many ppl stay and party with you until the last second.. JMO.

ets: my CH doesnt start until 7 so my dinner is probably going to be around 10!

Edited again to say: OMG i have no idea when my cocktail hour starts lol I just asked FH and we are both unsure..and now I htink my invites are wrong.
