what time should i make the reception?

my church mass is in dix hills at 3.

we should be done by 4, and then receiving line should be done by 4:30 latest.

I am asking the family to stay for a portrait at the church. then bridal party, FH and I will take pics, at church and at hall in uniondale (reckson plaza).

should we make the reception at 7 or 7:30?

FH wants it at 7:30. When I asked him why, he said, 'I don't want the night to end.' So cute. What should I do?

I know there's always the concern of what family will do between the two events. should I be concerned? I can always give them the key to my parents house and let them go hang out there.

Sometimes I've felt like I'd rather have the extra half hour between going to a church and a reception hall. Most people live in between them both anyway!

first, dont worry about ur guests. if there's a large time gap, odds are they'll head home to change & such in-between. 7 or 7:30 gives u plenty of time...it's a half our difference so don't drive urself crazy over it! My wedding wasn't untill 8:30 lol(yep it went untill 2:30am!! lol). I will say that having it so late made the day seem a lot longer which was nice, but really ur not talking much difference between the two...why not go for 7:30 just to give u guys extra time 'just in case'??? it's plenty of time either way! my ceremony started at 5 in suffolk county & my reception started at 8:30 all the way in nassau...we had PLENTY of time. are u going to any locations for picture taking??? either way i'd say go for having more time in between if dh wants it go for it

I would go with 7:30, it's nice to not be too rushed for your photo's. We had a 4pm ceremony (mass) and didn't leave the church until about 5:30. We had plenty of time for photo's before our cocktail hour at 7:30. It worked out really well

at the time you are getting married there should be still a lot of sunlight, so 7:30 doesnt hurt, so that you have more time to take pictures and don't feel rushed. enjoy the night!!
