I am going to print my inviations today and I am still very undecided as to what time I should put on them. The ceremony starts at 6:30pm and it is at the reception hall, so as soon as the ceremony is over the reception will start. Being that it is on a Friday night, I am afraid people will be later than usual because of traffic and such. I talked to the RH last week and asked when they will let people in, and they said exactly 6:30pm. They said they will have to wait in the lobby if they get there early. So what should I do, keep the time as 6:30 or make it 6:15, just in case. I am sooo confused!!

My ceremony starts at 2:30, but I am putting 2pm, because our families are usually late lol.

I am in the same boat but I am doing 6. Traffic is going to be horrible so I put earlier.

Our ceremony stars at 3:30 PM I am putting 3 PM on the invites so we are not waiting around for guests to arrive

Put 6 and ask your RH to serve champagne while the guests arrive.
I think I have been to very different weddings then a lot of people on here. Only once I went to a wedding that said 5:30 on the invite and the ceremony started AT 5:30. I have always been at weddings that call for 1/2 hour before ceremony and serve champagne until most the guest arrive and then move you into the chapel area.

I totally agree with all of you girls - mine is at 5:30 and I want to put 5 on the invite - But, in our contract it clearly states that our invitations must have the same time that is in the contract for the ceremony to start - has anyone heard of this?? I mean, how will they know if i make it half an hour earlier? People will end up getting there late anyways, thats the whole point of the buffer.....

I'm in the same boat..... Friday nite reception starting at 7:30 but I am going to put 7:15 so they allow time for traffic and what not

i would put 6:15pm - that gives people enough time to park and get in for the beginning and if they are early, there will be other people there early to begin chit chatting with - no worries our ceremony is starting at 12:30-i am going to put 12 bc i know there will be stragglers

If your ceremony is scheduled to start at 6:30, there is usually 15-30 minutes of seating, they cannot reasonably expect to seat all of those people in 1 minute!!!
I would put 15 minutes max. This way if the late people get there on time, that's great, but for the 75-90% of people that do show up on time, don't think you rude for making them wait 30-45 minutes.

our started at 4:30, we put 4:00 on the invited..and certain very important family members were STILL late
