I need some help!!!! My cousins wedding is this weekend in Shelter Island. My babysitter just called and canceled. FI is now saying that he won't go to the wedding and that he will stay home with our daughter. (kids are not invited to the wedding) So my question is this what do you think is worse calling to say that my FI is no longer going to the wedding or asking if I can bring my daughter??? I'm so stuck !!!!!

I would call and ask if they are providing a babysitter for any out of town guests and explain your situation. if they say no or cannot have your daughter, then I would tell them that FH will not be able to go due to those circumstances.

Do you have a friend/neighbor/family member on FH's side that you trust who can step in or has watched your daughter in the past?

that's the hard part we don't really talk to FI family and our daughter is very much a mamma's girl. She will only stay with select people.
The best part is my babysitter new about this for 5 months and now 4 days before the wedding she rather go to a bbq at her friends house.

I would call and explain the situation and see what your cousin says.... dont say either way can I bring or FH can stay home .. wait for her to say a solution and if she doesnt say well either FH is going to have to stay home because I know you dont want any children at the wedding.. and see what she says

I would not ask if you could bring your daughter... i think it would put them on the spot... when we had our e-party we decided to not invite dates... well i got calls asking to bring dates... it was really hard for me in some of those situations to say no... and FI couldnt even keep that rule himself... so dates ended up coming, which was really annoying to me, because i stayed strong and said no and he was weak and said ok....does that make sense???
Just try your hardest to find another babysitter... if you can't give them a call, tell them FI can no longer come, and if they ask why tell them the truth...
