What to do ????????

My uncle was supposed to walk me down the isle when I get married. He died about one week ago. I chose my best friend to walk me down since all my other realatives are deceased as well. Its just me and my mom now.
But how do I honor my uncle on my wedding day ?

Sorry about you loss. You can have him remembered in many ways. Definitely ask your officiant to help you on this. You can have a special prayer or something read in his memory, light a candle in front of his picture etc.

About walking down the aisle, are you willing to walk by yourself? I considered this, I'm not very traditional though. Or, what about your mom walking you down? I think that would be nice too.

So sorry...

I'm so sorry for your loss...Perhaps a picture of your uncle tucked into your bouquet...Just remember, you want to do something that won't overwhelm your guests, or YOU...something that won't make you hysterical. I lost my father, and have ideas for honoring him, but not in a way that will make me cry my eyes out...a picture in your bouquet is a subtle way to honor such an important person. Good luck, and again, so sorry...

So sorry...

Both my parents are gone & I'm having my brother walk me down the aisle. I'm probably going to light a candle in their honor.

have a picture of him tucked inside your dress when you walk down the aisle. If you are close with your mom, there is nothing wrong with having her walk you, I have seen this done, and it is totally acceptable.

What I did...

I lost my father a few years ago, so I had my mother walk me down the aisle. Honestly, if my dad were still alive, I probably would have had them both escort me down the aisle.

The program is the perfect place to remember those who are no longer with us. I scanned a picture of me and my dad onto the back page of the program and wrote a few words (God, I am getting teary eyed writing this!!!). It was a really nice touch and made him part of my day.

Lastly, I made donations to the American Cancer Society in his honor, which was set forth in the scrolls left on the table.

I know exactly how you feel. Both of my parents are gone. I am so sorry for your loss.
At my church, if you buy alter flowers you can have them dedicated to any family member that has passed and they will mention it in the services and in the programs. It would be in their memory.
