What to do?

What to do?

Hello girls!

The other day I saw a poll about where you live....well, I live in Italy (but am originally from NY) and am getting married on Long Island in November! Thanks to everyone, this website has been so much help!!

Well apart from many other difficult issues about planning a 'reverse' destination wedding , I'd like to know if anyone can offer us some suggestions....you see, we'd like to be able to help out of guests (including my fiance's parents!) who are coming from Italy (friends and relatives from both sides). However, since we are getting married on Long Island, most European guests would like to take the opportunity to visit NY for more than just a weekend, probably about 10-14 days. The expense of the flight to the US (plus to make a new passport: new rules apply, and they're not cheap in Italy!) is already a factor, and we'd like to give some advice for a place to stay that won't break the bank.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I think at this point a hotel would be too expensive, and I was thinking something like renting a house or apartment, but I have no idea how to go about something like that.

Please let me know any suggestions you may have...on my part, if you have any questions about Italy, please ask away!!
Thanks again...grazie!!

That's a tough one. I know a lot of people do rentals in Long Beach come the winter months so maybe contacting a realtor in that area would be your best bet.

Oh wow!

They can always stay at one of those hotels specifically for longer stays--ExtendedStayHotels has a couple of places on Long Island, Homewood Suites by Hilton, Residence Inn by Marriott or the Wingate Inn.

These hotels often cater to people with longer stays and in some cases, the rooms even have a little kitchenette which would be really convenient for your guests.

Can't help too much since I'm not from LI, but I just wanted to say that I'm in a similar situation actually..except I live in Germany and am getting married over here (in Austria actually)... so along with all this wedding planning I need to help my family who is coming from NJ to find the best deals since they already hafta pay $$ for airfare.

So good luck!
