anybody ever get to the point where the bad just outweighs the good parts of planning a wedding? i'm sure i can't be the only one (or at least i hope not)... while my situation may be different than what a lot of other girls go through... my parents just simply are not excited about my wedding. no matter what i do, they don't even want to be in the videographer's interview. while some of this has to do with the fact that my parents business is hurting due to the economy... they just are totally taking it out on me and i don't know where to turn or what to do anymore. i'm just really hurt by the fact that while i thought my mom and dad would be the ones who'd be so excited, they are the least... about it all. sorry, guess i just need to vent, or have someone listen. my FH is awesome, he's so the best and i love him to pieces...he is mad FOR me. i know that 'i should be happy during this time in my life' ...that i should 'enjoy it!!'... it's more than difficult when your own parents don't celebrate your happiness...when they don't even ask how the planning's going... ... anybody relate?

Re: What to do...??
So sorry that you are feeling this way. I may not be in the exact position , however I do feel at time the stress is like a roller coster. My mom isnt involved at all the wedding or my life and I definatly feel it at time s to be adding to the stress. The questions you would ask the mother etc.. Just take a deep breathe. Do things at your own pace. And all will be fine. And know that you are marring the man of your dreams. that is all that matters. Everyone else will follow along eventually!!
Good Luck!

Re: What to do...??
I can totally relate....there is a lot of tension between my family and FH's family...we can FM so as not to post too many details on such a public forum..lol.
It's 'supposed to be' the happiest times of our lives; but lately, it doesn't seem that way. And it makes moving forward with plans that much harder. It *****.....
FM if you want to vent/chat.
Hang in there...and try to think of the positives!

Re: What to do...??
it's not always as much fun as it's 'supposed to be', I can relate, can I please recommend the BEST book I've read in awhile! This book has completely helped me through any difficult times during my engagement. It's called 'The Conscious Bride' by Sheryl Paul. You can google it and check it out on Amazon. It's really helped me put things into perspective during the planning. This book helped me to feel that there are other ppl out there that I can relate to! Feel better

Re: What to do...??
Unfortunately a lot of brides (myself included) discover during wedding planning that not everyone is as happy for them as they are... I'm sorry it happens to be your parents though You don't mention (not that it's anyone's business!) whether they are helping you financially with the wedding. Perhaps your parents are worried that they can't help you pay for it? Have you tried to ask them what's going on for them or why they wont' do the videographer's interview and how much it hurt you...I would try to talk to them in an honest and respectful way about it, maybe they don't know or understand.
The bottom line is that you are marrying the love of your life....and no one, including your parents, can take that away from you...he and your life together are your new family

I'm soo sorry you are feeling like that!! Parents sometime don't know how to show the emotions. We all know the economy is hurting everyone REALLY bad!!
If you can just sit with them and discuss a solution for the wedding... Its a matter of a conversation and budget preparation. I know parents can also be stubborn... I really WISH you the best.. Things will turn around quickly... FM should you want to chat!!

Wedding planning is not fun. Only parts of it.
Hopefully eventhough they are not excited about the planning they will be excited the day of.
Good Luck.
God Bless You.

Re: What to do...??
Remember there are a lot of other people in your life who are excited for you. If they are paying, you may have to look at scaling something back...if they are not, then you just keep throwing the wedding and do what's right for you and your FH. Neither DH or I had any support from our mothers... you will be fine!

Re: What to do...??
I feel like that too sometimes- wedding planning is not always the happy time we expected it to be. I guess when a lot of money is involved- combined with the fact that 2 families are merging together (if they like it or not) and therefore, causing everyone to be emotional AND this crazy economy: THAT'S A LOT OF STRESS!
I feel like everyone is trying to save money- I saw on the news people are selling their hair and even their blood! It's craziness and here we are spending money on flowers that will die and all these 'extras' This just adds more stress and tension on everyone, not to mention the fact that it seems so much worse bc we are brides...
I tell myself that it wll get better and that my fam or FH's fam doesn't really mean to be this way- it just comes out because there are so many emotions involved.
I hope that after all the big stuff is settled and all of the payments are made things settle down and so does everyone's nerves. It all seems normal to me...I mean, it's a little abnormal for people to not be emotional in a time like this. Everyone expresses themselves differently.
I hope your feeling better about this situation- your definately not alone.
