What to do...

What to do...

Ok, so this is the first issue I have had in all of my wedding planning... Fh and I are having 5 GM's and 5 BM's in the BP, 3 of my girls, my MOH and 2 BM's live on Long Island, 1 lives in NJ and the 5th lives in Florida. My friend in FL has been my best friend for many years, however, about 3 years ago she moved to FL and we have been drifting apart a lot. For the first 2+ years the only times that I saw her was when I would fly down there, which was often at least 8 times over the 2 years. Once I got engaged I told her that I needed to save money for the wedding and my vacation time for my honeymoon so I wouldn't be coming down to visit for quite some time and that since during the 3 years that she has been down there she has not once come to visit me so now it's her turn. But this is all beside the point. Anyway, I told her that all I need to finalize the order for the BM dresses and asked her to make sure that she gets measured by this weekend and send me a check for the deposit that I would be laying out for her. In the meantime, I went with my 3 LI girls and my cousin in NJ went and got measured so I'm all ready to place the order and still no measurements from FL girl. I sent her an email on Monday, no response, I left her a voicemail this morning, no call back.... Well tomorrow is Friday and I wanted to order the dresses on Saturday but obviously that is not going to happen.... I don't know what to do. Part of me feels like she is going to string me along and then end up not being in the BP... I don't know why but this is what I feel. Have any of you girls dealt with a similar situation? How did you handle? Part of me feels like she's unhappy and doesn't want to share in my happiness, she barely asks anything about the wedding and really hasn't been there for me. Sorry this is so long. Everything up until this point has gone so smoothly and I don't want this to turn into a big deal.... Ugh! What would you do, if anything?

Thanks for reading and for any feedback you may have

I think you should call her and tell her how you feel and if she doesnt pick up your calls then leave her a voicemail asking her if shes in it or not. I mean its wierd she wont call you back as it is. But maybe shes going through something.

In your post you stated that you have been drifitng apart and that you were the one doing all the traveling...how close do you feel to her lately? Maybe she is just busy...maybe she is jealous...give it a couple of days and see what she says (if anything)...then call her and tell her that you need the info and the check by a certain date and ask her to call you back to make sure she got the message. If worse comes to worse can you order her dress later on?

i think these r the situation where u have to take out ur inner bridezilla....call her email or whatever and if u have to leave a meaasge be stern..say im ordering the dresses next week if i dont have ur size then i will asume u dont want to be in...i want u there but i cant wait any longer and u r not returning my calls...somtimes tough love is the only thing that works

I would call and tell her that you have a deadline and you need the measurements by such and such date. If she doesn't answer then I would leave that message for her. I would even say...'i've been trying to get in touch with you and I just can't seem to lately... I hope all is well'... then go onto the dress stuff. I think you should show some conern for her first to smooth that part over.. then get to the real important stuff. If she still doesn't respond then I would either email or call and leave another message... 'do you still want to be in the bp? Becuase if not, please just let me know... if it's too much for you right now I totally understand but I need to know what the deal is' then say soemthing like 'if you can't be in the wedding, I still hope you will at least be able to attend as a guest, we have known eachother for so long and this is a really important time for me and I would love nothing more than for you to be there with me for it'.

Good luck girl!

I hope it all works out. A friend of mine went through a very similar situation. Even though your Fla friend and you have drifted, definitely tell her how important her friendship is to you and how much it means to have her in your BP. Living so far away I'm sure she feels left out (even though that's nobody's fault). It's definitely a bit more labor intensive on both sides when a bridesmaid lives across the country. I'm sure she feels bad she can't be there with you through all the planning.
