what to do about eye glasses?

what to do about eye glasses?

I wear eyeglasses and really can't handle contact lenses. I can probably get away with not wearing glasses during the ceremony and photos afterwards, but during the reception i'd like to be able to see people and things...

...what are the rest of you doing about wearing eye glasses? or any suggestions about wearing them?

Would you consider getting the laser surgery?

no...while it would make life a lot simpler, one of the things that's problematic about contacts is the drops that go into the eyes. After lasik, you need to put drops in your eyes...ugh!

They irritate your eye or you just can't do it?

I would just wear them. You could find pretty white frames!

What about rimless frames?

I think if you wear glasses normally it would be normal for people to see you in glasses. If you dislike them that's a different story. Even if it's your wedding day you still want to be yourself!

I am wearing my contacts, like every other day.

I couldn't wear contacts for a long time, but I got a new type and a new cleaning system - AMO - that has made a big difference.

have you seen multiple eye doctors? One doctor couldn't help me at all, and another has allowed me to wear contacts a few days/week.

I'm sure you're lovely with or without them, but if you're concerned - can you remove them just for photos?

FH wears them and I'm hoping he'll get contacts for the wedding and HM. I love him in glasses, but for the sake of the photos, the glare. But then again, if someone always wears them it's part of them - that whole, look like yourself thing, ya know?

Either way, I'm sure you'll decide what's best for you and you'll look fabulous!

Re: what to do about eye glasses?

I'm hoping to try contacts over the summer before my wedding b/c I would rather not wear my glasses, but i'm not good with things near my eyes, so I don't know how well that will go.

If the contacts don't work, I'm planning on just having my MOH hold my glasses most of the day. I don't plan on wearing them for the ceremony or pictures, b/c i only need glasses for far away, not all the time. I'll probably put them on for most of the reception though b/c I don't mind my glasses that much.

I would suggest getting rimless or something small and simple, maybe with a slim silver or gold trim. Good luck!!

I had lasix just for this purpose!

My photographer recommended getting the glasses that have been treated to reduce glare, and he also recommended tilting the glasses a certain way to also reduce glare.

I just can't have things coming too close to my eye, which is why i don't want to get contacts...i tried putting one in once and my eye just kept shutting tight.

But it's good to hear that others are planning to wear glasses. My frames are already quite small and are a bronze color. I try to take them off when I know there's a photo that will be taken, but i'm worried about the candid shots.

Here's a photo at my engagement party where i forgot to take them off...it's not horrible other than the glare

I hear you about having things close to your eyes- contact lens wise. I don't have a particular condition or anything, for me it's mental. I don't like the thought of applying something to my eye lid. I give people credit for being able to do that! It makes me uneasy

My eye doc mentioned getting lenses that are treated for the glare also. You have to get them specially done and wouldn't have your glasses for a few days. My mom is thinking about that b/c she needs new glasses and can't wear contacts either. So if you need new glasses/lenses before the wedding, I would suggest getting them treated. Not sure how much it costs though! I just got new lenses and didn't want the extra expense right now, so I lost out on that opportunity!
