What to do if you want to make a donation instead of favors....Help.

I want to donate to the cancer research foundation because I'm getting married on my dad's B day. He would have been 61yrs on the date. Can anyone tell me what to do, without making it a sad thing, just a way of doing iot in his memory. Considering that the week he new that he was going he left $ and wrote that I should 'one day' have a great wedding on him and he would be their in spirit. I really want to thank him, and this is the only way I know how. Thanks.

hi,
i am doing the same thing, i am not giving favors, i am making a donation to the american cancer society since both of our mothers past away from cancer. i am gong to have little cards made up and put at the guests place settings. you can get cards made up rather cheap. so here is what i am writing:

In lieu of a favor,
we have made a donation to the
american cancer society in memory of
our mothers (their names)
Thank you for sharing in our special day

What a kind and generous man your Dad was! And what a beautiful way to honor him. I think a card or simple scroll would do just fine also.

Often your invitation company will make simple 4x6 cards on nice paper stock that states your donation and you can put them at people's place settings. I've been to many weddings where this has been done and I think it is a beautiful gesture.

I'm sorry that your Dad won't be with you physically on your wedding. He obviously loved you very much and pictured you on your wedding day. In spirit, he will be there.

Good question!! I am mulling this over right now. I am probably doing a donation to the American Cancer Society in honor of my mom. I am leaning towards doing a nice card and attaching some candy as well. I have a good idea of what I want to do; still unsure of how I am presenting it!!!

We are making a nice note and puting it in a photo frame - 1 for each table and one by the place cards.

I lieu of favors a donation has been made
on behalf of the guests celebrating our marriage
to the following charities:

The Alzheimer’s Association Coalition of Hope

The American Cancer Society

The National Parkinson's Foundation

Schneider Children's Hospital

The Sxxxx X. Bxxx Memorial Fund

***ALSO*** Our employers are matching most of our donations except to our friend's memorial fund. You should see if yours will too.

Many places provide you with scrolls already made up, you can tie them with a nice bow- that is what we are doing

(American Cancer Society)

If we decide to donate to more than one organization, I will be making up our own scrolls.

I am doing that to the LUPUS foundation. I am attaching the ribbon with our name and date on it with a card stating what we're doing.

I never thought of that!!!! Great idea :)

Also contact the charity that you choose, many will give you something for the table. Some will print scrolls or table cards for each guest as well.

I donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation in honor of my mother. They sent me a template to use to make scrolls. Just watch out for some of the charities--They will send you scrolls already made, but they require a certian 'donation' per scroll and will not send you a template to do it yourself.
