We are leaving for Hawaii in three weeks and I want to plan excursions before we go (we are cruising). We are hitting all the major islands. Can anyone suggest anything that we NEED to do while in Hawaii?

Me and FH went to Kauai last year - I definitely suggest going snorkeling down the Napali coastline. We did a cave tour that took us into some of the beautiful caves down the coast and went snorkeling to see fish, turtles, dolphins, etc.
Also you definitely should go to a luau on one of the islands!

I am also taking a cruise. I got a book on Hawaii and saw what each island is popular for and I worked around that. They pretty much offer the same excursions on the different islands. We only plan to do 3 or 4 excursions for a 9 night stay, as they are expensive and we also want to lay around and relax.

First Hawaii is AWESOME! You will love it and never want to come back! We only went to Oahu and Maui.
Defiantly go to a Luau. Those are fun and we actually really liked the food! Go Snorkling! We went in Oahu to Hanauma Bay and in Maui (not sure where) but in both places it was amazing that the fish would just come right up to you. It was just so clear you could see anything! We also had a great time on a cocktail cruise in Maui, that was really fun, they just have mai tais and beer and snacks but it was a really nice and relaxing time! We also LOVED the road to Hana! We drove it in a Jeep and had a blast! It was DHs favorite part! Also get the book Maui Revealed. It had a lot of off the beaten path sights! Which we loved! We wouldnt have seen as much as we did without that book!

We didn't do a helicopter tour of the volcanoes, but we did one of Kauai. It was absolutely amazing!

First, thanks so much for posting this!! We're also planning on going to Hawaii for the HM so I notebooked this thread, it'll be a big help.
Ok, I went on a helicopter ride over Niagara Falls and it was an awesome experience!!! It was def one of the best things I've ever experienced in my life, absolutely breathtaking views. So I'd say go for it over the volcanoes!!

i'm going to hawaii in about 3 1/2 weeks too! first maui for 6 nights, big i. for 6 nights, and finally oahu for 2 nights. i can't wait! we've never been away together for that long. what hotels are u staying at?

Thanks for the info! We are staying in Honolulu (Sheraton Moana Surfrider) for two nights, and then cruising for 11 nights around all the major islands, so I am trying to figure out what excursions to do. Keep the ideas coming!
