I know I haven't even had my wedding yet (it's 10 days away!!!!) but i'm wondering what to do with my dress afterwards...i ADORE my dress, but i don't want to spend a fortune to preserve it for nothing...could i feasibly sell it??? i didn't even need to have it altered...so i could sell it 'unaltered and WITH a bustle'....thoughts???

Re: what to do with wedding dress?
Im donating mine to the place where Im having my alterations done. The owner is a friend of my mother so she really isnt charging me much at all. She is involved with her church a lot, she travels around in Church Missions donating clothes etc to the needy, and she said they have donated wedding dresses in other countries to brides who cant afford to buy one, so thats what I will be doing with mine...

Thats a really good idea!!! I know my daughter and I 'collected' all of her and her friends Prom, Homecoming and dance dress and donated to this place that gives them to girls that cant afford them so they can go to their Proms and such. I was wondering if it could be done with a wedding dress....

Re: what to do with wedding dress?
I plan on having get togethers with all my married friends in which we hang out in my house and parade around in our wedding dresses. Sort of like playing dress up. I am spending way too much money on my dress to even think about donating it. Sorry, but I am not a very generous person. I still have my sweet 16 dress sitting in my closet.

Re: what to do with wedding dress?
As a family tradition, i'm going to keep my dress and make baptism/christening clothes for my future babies. My mom made my baptism outfit with her wedding dress, and her mother did the same for her. I'd like to keep the tradition going.

I'm with you on this...I couldn't part with my dress and let someone else wear it...Yikes!

Re: what to do with wedding dress?
Not far from where I live (in PA) is a store called Sabrina Ann Once Worn & Never Worn Bridals. I was hesitant to shop there for a wedding dress because I assumed it was just a bridal thrift store - it was anything BUT (I didn't wind up getting my dress there because I just didn't find 'the one')! You can definitely sell yours - this woman bought all kinds of dresses as long as they were in PERFECT condition. Maybe there's a shop like this near you?
