can anybody tell me what to expect on my second pre-natal visit? It is next Tuesday. I have already had my first ultrasound and am not scheduled for the next one until Sept.
I will be 12 1/2 weeks next week. Any idea? Should my husband come along? I don't want him to miss anything...

You should take him along because you might be able to hear the heartbeat. My midwife took my blood test, urine test, weight, stuff like that. We couldn't hear the heart beat at that point since my baby was 'hiding', we had to wait to the next appt.

You should be able to *hear* the hb... that's SO cool!!!! I actually had a sono (external) on my 12-week b/c my OB was having some trouble finding Peanut's hb (I have some extra tummy fluff ) - she heard it on the Doppler, but I couldn't hear it clearly and she wanted to make sure I felt comfortable!!
There's no need for a pelvic exam or trans-v-ginal sono.
The next several appts will be much the same... urine, weight, BP, doppler for hb!!
At your 20 (ish) week, you'll have the Level II sono to check all the parts!!
