What to expect at the first meeting with the priest?

What to expect at the first meeting with the priest?

We have an appt tomorrow night to meet with the priest at the RC church we really love. What can we expect? Will he agree to marry us at that time, or are there further steps before we can count on booking the church?

This is the most intimidating part about planning our wedding for me so far.

MY meeting was quick and simple. He asks name, address, parent's name (middle names too), addresses. Also, where you were baptised, made first communion and confirmation, etc.

Then he separated us and asked us each the same questions in private. Like, are you under psychiatric care, are you related to FH, are you entering into this by your own free will, etc., do you want children, etc.

Then he asked us the date, put us in the book and gave us all the info we needed for pre-cana and what we have to do before the wedding.

I was intimidated at first too, but it's really no big deal.

Ok, hopefully our meeting will be as smooth! Did you have to leave a deposit of any kind? Wasn't sure how that worked with the Church, guess we'll bring our check book just in case.

Nope, you won't be putting any money down. My experience was about the same as the other poster's. It was about an hour long, and was pretty painless.

Our meeting was really quick and painless. He just asked us our names, parents names, when/where we were baptized, contact info and address (we live together and we did tell him this and he didn't say anything or get upset!), we went over the date we wanted, pre cana, etc. The second part he asked us separately if we had ever been married, engaged, under psychiatric care, if I knew of any reason I couldn't have children, etc. It was really easy and quick. I was really nervous before but it was nothing to be nervous about!
