took like 15 minutes, more of just a wait to have name called. You fill out the paper work, show IDs, they show you a proof to make corrections, sign and DONE![]()
that's what happened to us! we went to the hempstead town hall on washington ave. they make you sign in with the security guard and then you go upstairs. there were only 2 other couples ahead of us but 1 of them wanted to ACTUALLY get married right then and there! she showed up in a big wedding dress and he was in a suit. it was very bizarre to watch! she even had BM's!!!
we went to huntington town hall and there was no wait. DH knows the lady who does the licenses there and he wrote the software for the marriage licences! he's been telling me about it for months how he wrote the software and was so proud to show me when we were in the town hall

We went yesterday morning and we were in and out in 15 minutes. We went to town hall in Hempstead and we were the only couple there (at around 9:00am). They ask for $40, 2 forms of ID and a bunch of questions like your address, mother's maiden name, are you taking his last name, yada yada. Then they give you the license application for the officiant to complete on the wedding day. They also gave me a little packet of various applications to help me when I change my name with the DMV.
